New Sentra Debuts With Bold Design, Unique Piece Taillights And Hybrid Option, Already Being Tested In Brazil, While China Prepares For The Launch And The U.S. Awaits Arrival By The End Of 2025.
The Nissan Sentra 2026 had its design revealed through official records in China, where the sedan is sold as Sylphy, and is already undergoing testing in Brazil.
The images show a completely redesigned front, featuring narrow LED DRLs, a new interpretation of the “V” grille, and a bumper with diagonal cuts.
At the rear, the main change is the single-piece taillight that spans the trunk lid.

Suzuki Fronx emerges as the “compact coupe SUV” that Brazil doesn’t have: priced around R$ 37,000 in a tax-free conversion, the model has a hybrid version, 1.0 turbo engine, bold design, and the price of a popular car in India.

Not every car with a battery is truly electric; some hybrids never run solely on electric power, and since 2025, ABVE stopped counting mild hybrids as electrified, and these differences change everything when buying.

Peugeot 408 Griffe 2015 combines a turbo engine, 0 to 100 km/h in 8.3 seconds, a 526-liter trunk larger than many compact SUVs, leather, multimedia, cruise control, and a sunroof, but it remains off the radar among fully equipped used cars.

Toyota Hilux Champ emerges as the “mini-work Hilux” that Brazil doesn’t have: for around R$ 81,7 thousand in conversion without taxes, the pickup has a modular chassis, single cab, 2 seats, 2.4 diesel engine, and a popular car price to become a tool for construction, cargo, and small business in Thailand.
As announcements progress in the Chinese market, prototypes have been circulating on Brazilian roads since March, signaling the proximity of the regional debut.
Design And Dimensions Of The Sentra 2026

The front adopts daytime running lights in thin bars, one horizontal and two vertical, reinforcing the brand’s lighting signature.
The main headlight assembly is positioned lower, and the grille, smaller than that of the current model, gains elements with fine lines that modernize the design.
On the sides, the doors now feature straighter and more pronounced creases, aligned with the new rear bumper.
In addition to style, there have been adjustments to the dimensions.
The Sentra maintains a wheelbase of 2.71 m, but grows slightly in all directions: length of 4.65 m, width of 1.82 m, and height of 1.44 m.
The trunk’s slope is more arched, following the continuous light strip and enhancing the perception of width.
Engines Of The New Sentra
In the Chinese market, the first official information addresses the entry-level configuration with engine 1.6 naturally aspirated with 135 hp and 16.2 kgfm of torque, mated to a CVT transmission.
This is the evolution of the powertrain already known in Asia, with a calibration focused on efficiency.
The main technical highlight, however, is the full hybrid variant with electric propulsion technology (e-POWER).

In this setup, a 136 hp front electric motor powers the vehicle, while the 1.2 gasoline engine with 72 hp operates solely as a generator to recharge the battery.
This arrangement eliminates the need for external charging and favors urban consumption, maintaining the immediate response typical of electric vehicles.
Performance and consumption figures for the new generation have not yet been disclosed for Brazil, but the mechanical basis coincides with the setup already used in the Sylphy e-Power sold in China.
Launch Of The Sentra 2026
With the design registered with the Chinese regulatory body, the debut in the Asian country is imminent.
Specialized publications indicate that the presentation of the new generation will occur between late 2025 and early 2026 in global markets, with the United States on the radar of this schedule.
For Brazil, there is only an indication of proximity: camouflaged units have been circulating in Minas Gerais and São Paulo since the first half of the year, but the manufacturer has not confirmed a local launch date.
Interior And Expected Equipment
Although the interior images have not yet been detailed at this stage, it is expected that the Sentra 2026 will follow the interface evolution seen in other recent Nissan models, with larger screens for multimedia and instrument cluster, in addition to an expanded suite of driving assists.
Among the items that are likely to be retained or updated according to the brand’s standard, the Safety Shield 360, adaptive cruise control, blind spot warning, and autonomous emergency braking should be included.

Confirmations for the Brazilian package, however, will depend on the official announcement.
Direct Rivals Of The Sentra 2026
The advancement in design and the offering of hybridization positions the Sentra in direct competition with the Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic, references among electrified midsize sedans.
In some markets, the Chevrolet Cruze also figures as a direct competitor, especially where it is still sold.
The new visual signature — with sharp DRLs and a continuous rear light — indicates Nissan’s bet on increasing the perception of technology and modernity to compete for consumers who prioritize efficiency, active safety, and connectivity.
Sentra Testing In Brazil
Recurring sightings confirm the circulation of prototypes in the country since March 2025, a stage that usually precedes component validations and calibration for local fuels.
The observed units maintain visible exhausts, reinforcing the presence of combustion engines in the versions under evaluation.
The possibility of adopting the e-POWER hybrid system in the Brazilian market remains under analysis, without official details on versions or timelines.

As is customary, definitive information about engines, equipment levels, and commercial strategy will only be disclosed at the national presentation.
More Aggressive Design Language
Nissan is moving to a language that favors straight lines, cleaner surfaces, and striking light elements.
The result in the Sentra 2026 is a visually lower front and a rear with a single light bar, a solution that integrates aesthetics and functionality by expanding the visibility area.
This combination also brings the sedan closer to recent models from the brand, creating a common identity and greater recognition on the streets.
As the debut approaches in major markets, which features of the new Sentra weigh most in your purchase decision: the 136 hp hybrid, the 1.6 with 135 hp, or the leap in the design and technology package?
