Northeast: Project Offshore Ceará Plans to Build More Than 200 Wind Towers, Each with a 15 MW Generator
The project planned for the sea of Acaraú anticipates the installation of more than 200 wind towers, each with a 15 MW generator. And it does not stop there; according to Lauro Fiúza Neto, in addition to the Ceará project, four other wind farms will be implemented in Brazil: one in the Southeast region and three in the South.
Lauro Neto – whose father, Lauro Fiúza Júnior, is the majority partner of Servtec and one of the founders of the Brazilian Wind Energy Association (Abeeólica, of which he was its first president and whose Board of Directors he has already chaired) – revealed that the Australian group Macquarie showed sensitivity to the current moment in Brazil and approached Servtec, resulting in a partnership that began to be built a year ago and was solidified last week with the publication of the decree by President Bolsonaro, regulating the construction and operation of offshore wind projects.
For Lauro Neto, the presidential decree “brings some order” to the offshore wind sector, establishing actions for entrepreneurs and for the range of government bodies.
Port of Pecém, Ceará, Hosts Visit from British Giant BP
Representatives from multinational BP, led by their senior vice president of Energy & Gas, Italian Federica Berra, visited the Pecém Complex, including the ZPE-Ceará. The executives met with the Secretary of Economic Development, Maia Júnior, and with directors of CIPP S/A, the company that manages the Pecém Complex and ZPE-Ceará.
For those who don’t remember, BP signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Ceará 15 days ago for the installation of a natural gas hub that includes the exclusive use of a pier at the Pecém Industrial and Port Complex.
According to Diário do Nordeste, Maia Júnior reiterated in the meeting that the Government of Ceará will fully comply with the commitments made in the Memorandum of Understanding signed with BP.
After meeting with BP executives, Secretary Maia Júnior told the column that the first days of February have “been generous with good news,” citing the announcement from Servtec Energia, which, in partnership with the Australian giant Macquarie, submitted to Ibama for analysis a project for offshore energy generation with a capacity of 3.48 GW in the sea of Acaraú, on the West Coast of Ceará.
With the enthusiasm that characterizes him, the secretary also announced that in the coming days, Governor Camilo Santana will announce a second factory of wind generators – the first, announced at the beginning of this week, was from the Chinese Ming Yang.
