Wind Energy: Nordex, The Leader in Turbine Production for Wind Farms, Will Supply AES Brazil with More Than 65 N163/5.X Turbines from the Delta4000 Series

AES Brazil has once again contracted the German multinational Nordex to manufacture and install 55 N163/5.X turbines. After the order of 314 MW for the Cajuína wind farm, totaling 313.5 MW, in June 2021, AES ordered this week an additional 65 N163/5.X turbines with a total volume of 370 MW for the “Cajuína 2” extension phase.

The contract once again includes service for the turbines for an initial period of five years, with several options to extend up to 20 years.

“Cajuína 2” is part of the Cajuína Wind Complex, located in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, in the municipality of Lajes. Constant average wind speeds of approximately 9.5 m/s give the site a high capacity factor.

The turbines are expected to be installed in the summer of 2022 and will be supplied in a specific project operation mode of 5.7 MW. The Nordex Group will manufacture the poles, most of the nacelles, the 120-meter concrete towers, and the rotor blades in Brazil.

Giant 80-Meter Wind Blade, Manufactured by Aeris Energy for Nordex – One of the Largest Wind Turbine Manufacturers in the World – Sets Sail from the Port of Pecém to Europe

The Pecém port complex in Ceará celebrates the record shipment of a giant 80.1-meter wind blade for the German Nordex — one of the largest wind turbine manufacturers in the world!

The size of the wind blade (or propeller) manufactured by Aeris Energy for Nordex is impressive. The shipment of the first unit of this giant — the largest wind blade ever produced in the Southern Hemisphere – involved a specialized operation. The more than 80 meters in length required the involvement of various professionals, from manufacturing to transportation to the Port of Pecém, in Ceará.

Blade-Less Turbines from Vortex Could Revolutionize Wind Farms and Change the World of Renewable Energy

Vortex Bladeless, a technology startup based in Spain, is developing wind energy turbines that do not require blades (or propellers). One goal is to use these turbines in urban and residential spaces, where the impact of wind farms would be too great. Similar to a “giant straw,” according to its creators, it is designed to change the world of renewable energy.

Blade-less turbines (or propellers) could be the future of wind energy and renewable energy. Vortex Bladeless claims that the turbine poses no danger to bird migration patterns or wildlife, especially if used in urban settings. Additionally, it states that the noise created would be at a frequency practically undetectable by humans.
