New Airline Called POP Linhas Aéreas Should Mark The Passenger Operation Linked To Total, Traditional In The Country And More Associated With Freight. Project Was Confirmed By Executives, Already Has Visual Materials And Follows In Preliminary Phase, Aiming Regional Connectivity And Integration With Higher Density Routes

The Brazilian aviation sector may gain a new airline dedicated to passenger transport, identified as POP Linhas Aéreas, a brand linked to the commercial flight operations of Total Linhas Aéreas, a traditional company in the national market and more associated with cargo transport. The project was confirmed by executives from Total itself, with the release of visual materials for the brand concept, indicating development in the early stages.

The proposal for the new airline is to operate in the regional segment, aiming to expand connectivity between cities with limited or non-existent regular flight offerings. The strategy also includes operating as a feeder for higher density routes, connecting secondary markets to hubs already served by domestic giants, such as Latam and Gol.

POP Linhas Aéreas is presented as the brand that should identify the passenger operation linked to Total Linhas Aéreas.

The project confirmation came from the company’s executives, who released visual elements related to the concept, signaling that the new airline is in a phase of development, still preliminary.

Even with the public exposure of the concept and the general guidelines, the structuring remains under analysis, with no official announcement for the start of commercial operations and without an established public timetable.

Regional Focus For Routes With Little Or No Offer

According to executives, POP intends to concentrate operations in the regional segment, targeting Brazilian cities where there is currently limited or no regular flight offerings.

The bet is that a new airline with a regional design can occupy ignored routes and strengthen the domestic network in lower volume markets.

The central objective is to enhance connectivity between medium-sized cities, reducing gaps in air links and creating more direct paths for passengers who currently rely on long land travel or impractical connections.

Strategy Of Feeder Flights And Connection With Hubs

The strategy of the new airline foresees operation as a feeder for higher density routes.

In practice, this means connecting secondary markets to the hubs operated by the main airlines, creating a flow of passengers that integrates with the existing traffic.

This feeder model aims to increase occupancy on regional segments and, at the same time, provide a bridge to larger destinations, without requiring smaller cities to sustain long and costly routes on their own.

ATR Fleet, Short Runways And Reduced Operational Costs

In the initial studies, the fleet planned for the new airline is expected to be composed of aircraft of the ATR model, widely used in regional aviation.

This type of aircraft is recognized for operating on shorter runways and for having reduced operational costs.

These characteristics are deemed suitable for markets with lower passenger volume and for airports with limited infrastructure.

The combination of lower costs and operational flexibility is considered the basis for enabling routes that larger operators tend to avoid.

Preliminary Development And Absence Of Debut Date

Despite progress in defining the guidelines and developing the concept, the company has not yet announced when commercial operations will begin.

Executives indicate that the initiative remains in a phase of analysis and structuring, without a public calendar.

This keeps the project in preparation mode: there is a brand, there is a direction, and there is an intention for a regional network, but the debut depends on final decisions, operational structure, and timeline definition.
