Agrion Will Invest R$ 30 Million in New Fertilizer Plant in Ibirarema (SP) with Local Partnerships and Planned Expansion.
The Agrion Fertilizantes has signed an agreement with NovAmérica Agrícola and Usina Enersugar for the construction of a new special fertilizers factory in Ibirarema, São Paulo. This project represents a significant investment of R$ 30 million and aims to strengthen Agrion’s presence in the fertilizer market, focusing on integration with local partners and optimizing logistics.
Location and Logistical Benefits
The new factory will be installed in the area of Usina Enersugar, bringing various logistical advantages for the operation.
Being located near the plant will facilitate both the delivery of fertilizers and the receipt of the raw materials needed for production.

From empty land to a high-end house, wooden construction uses a lightweight system, metal structure for the foundation, ventilated ceramic cladding, and special windows to create an efficient and comfortable living space throughout the year.
The unit will utilize waste such as filter cake, vinasse, bioenergy, and, in the future, biogas, contributing to a more sustainable and economical business model.
“The year for the fertilizer market was not good; it was a difficult first semester due to low soybean and corn prices. It is thinking about fluctuating times like this that we implement this local production model (of the plant) and reduce costs,” said Ernani Judice, CEO and founder of Agrion.
Capacity and Expansion of Agrion’s New Factory
In the first phase of the project, the new unit will be able to produce 60,000 tons of fertilizers annually.
There are plans for expansion that will allow this capacity to double in the future. The construction of the factory is expected to take eight to 12 months, with operations estimated to begin in the second half of 2025.
However, Judice mentioned that sales of fertilizers will start this year, with products coming from another plant of the company.
“We will send products from the other plant to start developing the entire market in the region where the new factory will be,” he explained.
The agreement with NovAmérica and Enersugar includes a guarantee to purchase 20% to 30% of the fertilizer production from the new unit.
The remainder will be allocated to the market within a 200-kilometer radius. Additionally, the agreement provides the option for partners to purchase an equity stake, offering the possibility of becoming shareholders of the new unit in the future.
Agrion’s Future Vision
Agrion’s vision for the future is to expand its presence in the national market by constructing new factories and launching innovative products.
The company is focused on diversifying its portfolio, including foliar fertilizers and inputs for plant nutrition, while also maintaining its commitment to sustainability and efficiency.
With planned investments and continuous expansion, Agrion aims not only to increase its production capacity but also to consolidate its position as a leader in the fertilizer sector in Brazil.
This factory will be the second of a total of ten that Agrion plans to build in the next five years.
The first unit has already been inaugurated in partnership with the Aroeira Bioenergetic Plant, located in Tupaciguara, Minas Gerais.
Agrion plans to invest between R$ 300 million and R$ 400 million in constructing these plants, which will be distributed across São Paulo, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Minas Gerais, and Northeast Brazil.
Judice mentioned that the goal is to build two factories per year and that a new project for the Northeast will be announced in 2024.
With one unit currently in operation, Agrion expects its revenue to reach R$ 50 million this year, with projections to triple to R$ 150 million in 2025, with two more factories operating.
Economic and Environmental Impact
In addition to logistical and economic benefits, Agrion’s new factory will also bring positive impacts to the Ibirarema region.
The installation of the unit is expected to generate new jobs and stimulate the local economy, while also contributing to sustainable development by using waste from the plant as raw materials.
The company is committed to practices that minimize environmental impact and promote resource efficiency.
The integrated production model with the local plant not only reduces operational costs but also contributes to sustainability by utilizing byproducts from the sugarcane industry.
