Brazil Gains New SUV and Billion-Dollar Investment! Nissan Announces New Kicks 2026 with Technology, Robustness, and Creation of 400 Jobs.
Brazil has just received a major update in the automotive sector: the New Nissan Kicks 2026 has officially started production at the Nissan factory in Resende (RJ). The launch event took place on Tuesday (15), with the presence of important authorities, such as President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Vice President Geraldo Alckmin.

In addition to marking the beginning of a new phase for the SUV, the event also celebrated the creation of direct and indirect jobs, driven by a R$ 2.8 billion investment from the Japanese automaker in the country.

With updated design, more muscular lines, and larger dimensions, the model aims to attract both fans of the original Kicks and new customers.
According to Nissan, the model has been fully adapted for the Brazilian market. This includes specific adjustments in the suspension and structure, considering the country’s roads.
The SUV will be equipped with a national flex turbo engine, developed at the Resende industrial complex itself.
Nissan Invests Heavily and Resende Factory is Modernized
To enable the production of the new SUV, Nissan’s factory underwent a true transformation.
98 new robots, 29 AGVs (automated guided vehicles) were installed, and 297 new jobs were created on the production line.
Additionally, more than 100 employees were sent for international training in Japan, Mexico, England, and the United States.
The goal was to ensure that production meets Japanese quality and technology standards, a trademark of Nissan.
Company Will Hire 400 New Employees
During the launch event of the New Nissan Kicks 2026, the president of Nissan Latin America, Guy Rodríguez, announced an important reinforcement in the team.
To operate in two shifts and meet production demand, the brand will hire 400 new employees.
These hires are part of the company’s commitment to the economic development of the Resende region and strengthening the national automotive industry.
In addition to direct jobs, it is estimated that this movement will also boost partner sectors such as logistics, auto parts, and services.
A New SUV is Coming
Another significant revelation made during the ceremony was the confirmation that Nissan is developing another unprecedented SUV, which will be manufactured exclusively in Brazil and exported to more than 20 countries in Latin America.
Still without a name or release date announced, the new model reinforces the strategic role of the Resende factory in the automaker’s global plan.
Kicks Play Continues in Production and Will Coexist with the New Generation
Despite the arrival of the New Kicks 2026, the first generation of the SUV, called Kicks Play, will continue to be produced alongside.
This strategy allows Nissan to cater to different consumer profiles, with options across different price ranges.
Both models are produced in the same industrial complex, which now has modern infrastructure and updated processes to ensure efficiency and quality.
The inauguration of the production of the New Nissan Kicks 2026 coincided with the 11th anniversary of the Resende factory.
Considered one of the most modern units of Nissan in the world, the complex was essential to enable the new cycle of investments by the brand in Brazil.
In addition to vehicle assembly, the unit also produces engines — including the new flex turbo engine that will equip the Kicks 2026. This solidifies the factory’s position as a strategic hub for the brand in Latin America.
New Nissan Kicks 2026 Should Arrive in Stores in June
The expectation is that the New Nissan Kicks 2026 will begin to be sold at the brand’s dealerships as early as June of this year. Until then, Nissan is finalizing production and logistics adjustments to ensure a simultaneous launch across the country.
The model will be distributed to over 200 Nissan dealerships across Brazil, strengthening the brand’s presence in the SUV segment — one of the fastest-growing in the national market.
