Expectations For The Auction Of The Pre-Salt Fields In The Santos Basin
The auction of the pre-salt fields of Atapu and Sepia in the Santos Basin is expected to raise up to R$ 11.1 billion for the Union solely from signature bonuses, which is the amount paid to obtain the concession for the area. Of this amount, more than R$ 7 billion will be transferred to states, the Federal District, and municipalities. In an interview released by the government page, the Deputy Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Mines and Energy, Bruno Eustáquio, spoke about the preparation for the auction and the benefits it will bring to the country.
When asked about the expectations for this auction for exploration in the fields of Atapu and Sepia, which are in the pre-salt layer of the Santos Basin, Bruno says that expectations are as good as possible, as they have been working on this project for 17 months in this second round. This work involved three continuous engagements with the oil industry, and it should be highlighted that, during this process, they went through a pandemic and are still experiencing it, which has an impact on oil prices, presenting new challenges for all of us, says the secretary.

Bruno says that to give an idea, they concluded the public consultation process, which is the moment when companies present their doubts and questions regarding the project, and they received 594 contributions in this process, which ended on July 7, and obviously, participation and contributions from some of the largest companies in the world.
Job Generation In The Oil And Gas Sector
Regarding the generation of investments and jobs from the auction of the Atapu and Sepia fields in the pre-salt of the Santos Basin, Bruno says that under the guidance of Minister Bento, they are working on this project with two concepts: the first, competitiveness, and the second, a focus on the future and society.
According to him, there are R$ 204 billion in investments over the course of contracts, contracts in the pre-salt that started in 2010, have a duration of 40 years, and will last until 2050. This means investment in platforms, investment in other activities resulting from the production process of these platforms and oil production. Bruno mentions an estimate, based on recent data from FGV, in the 2020 report, predicting the creation of around 110,000 jobs.

On the morning of July 23, Petrobras published a market note informing that the P-70 platform, located in the Atapu field, in the eastern portion of the pre-salt of the Santos Basin, reached its project capacity of 150,000 barrels per day on July 12, with the contribution of just four producing wells, a little over a year after entering production.
The P-70, a proprietary platform, is the fifth FPSO (floating production, storage, and offloading unit) in the series of replicants and has the capacity to process up to 6 million m³ of natural gas. The unit operates about 200 km from the coast of the state of Rio de Janeiro, in water depths of 2,300 m. With high operational performance, this unit installed in the Atapu field, in the pre-salt of the Santos Basin, continues to contribute to the growth of production in the pre-salt, which becomes increasingly relevant for Petrobras.
