Expectations of the Santos Basin pre-salt field auction
The auction of the pre-salt fields of Atapu and Sépia in the Santos Basin, should raise up to R$ 11,1 billion for the Union only with the signature bonus, which is the amount paid to obtain the concession of the area. Of this amount, more than R$ 7 billion will be transferred to states, the Federal District and municipalities. In an interview released by the government website, the Deputy Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Mines and Energy, Bruno Eustáquio, said about the preparation for the auction and the benefits it will bring to the country.
When asked about expectations with this auction for exploration in the Atapu and Sépia fields, which is in the pre-salt layer in the Santos Basin, Bruno says that the expectation is the best possible, as they worked for 17 months on this project, this Monday round. This work had three continuous involvements with the oil industry and it should be noted here that, during this process, they went through a pandemic and we are still going through it, which is reflected in the price of oil, and which, in a way, brings new challenges for all of us, says the secretary.
The Deputy Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Mines and Energy also says that the expectation, in fact for this auction of fields in the Santos Basin pre-salt to take place on December 17 of this year, is the best possible and certainly already has evidence of the participation of important companies through a reading within the public consultation process. Bruno says that to get an idea, they close the public consultation process, which is the moment when companies present their doubts and questions regarding the project, and there were 594 contributions in this process now, on July 7th, closed and obviously , holdings and contributions coming from the world's largest companies.
Job creation in the oil and gas sector
Regarding the generation of investments and jobs with the auction of the Atapu and Sépia fields in the pre-salt of the Santos Basin, Bruno says that under the guidance of Minister Bento, they are working on this project with two concepts: the first, competitiveness and the second , that look to the future and to society.
According to him, there are R$ 204 billion in investments throughout the contracts, pre-salt contracts that started in 2010, are 40 years old and go until 2050. And that means investment in a platform, investment in other activities arising from the production process of these platforms and oil production. Bruno says an estimate, based on recent data from the FGV itself, in the 2020 report, of generating around 110 jobs.

On the morning of 23/07), Petrobras published a note to the market informing that the P-70 platform, located in the Atapu field, in the eastern portion of the Santos Basin pre-salt, reached its capacity on 12/07 production capacity of 150 barrels per day, with the contribution of only four producing wells, in little more than a year after starting production.
The P-70, its own platform, is the fifth FPSOs (floating oil and gas production, storage and transfer unit) of the replicant series and has the capacity to treat up to 6 million m³ of natural gas. The unit operates approximately 200 km off the coast of the state of Rio de Janeiro, in a water depth of 2.300 m. With high operational performance, this unit installed in the Atapu field, in the pre-salt of the Santos Basin, continues to contribute to the growth of production in the pre-salt, which is becoming increasingly important for Petrobras.
