WEG Transformer Will Leave SC Factory for the African Continent
The first unit will be shipped in early April this year, and the second in May, ahead of the agreed contractual deadlines, with the complex logistics of transportation to the final destination estimated at 60 days.
On the African Continent, in addition to other important operations, WEG also has a presence with two transformer manufacturing units, both located near Johannesburg, South Africa, through which it serves the local market by producing transformers with a voltage class of up to 145 kV.
“WEG reinforces its position in the local market with the timely delivery of these 500 MVA transformers, needed to alleviate the energy shortage experienced in the region. The work carried out, involving the participation of our team from South Africa, reaffirms WEG’s commitment to the development of our employees and the transfer of skills, and consequently to the development of the country,” says Jan-Frederik Viljoen, WEG’s Chief Executive for the transformer units in South Africa.
