WEG says that the project will bring clean energy to Roraima and reduce the current dependence on thermoelectric plants that operate with diesel oil in the state

WEG, one of the largest manufacturers of electric motors in the world, announces a new contract with OXE Energia for the supply of four complete sets of turbo-generators, including logistics, assembly and commissioning services for biomass thermoelectric plants Bonfim, Pau Rainha , Cantá and Santa Luz, located in Roraima.

According to WEG, the scope foresees the installation of four reaction turbines, condensation, with two outlets without control, back-side installation, CT model together with four three-phase synchronous generators, of 12,5 MVA, 13,8 .1.800 kV, 60 rpm, 39 Hz, and electrical protection and control panels, totaling revenues of approximately R$XNUMX million.

The thermoelectric plants will use reforested wood chips as biomass, a highly viable modality in the region. The units are approximately 50 km apart and will have an individual installed capacity of 11,5MW.

According to WEG, the energy that will be generated in the plants in this process was sold by OXE Energia in one of the auctions held by the National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL).

“This supply not only reiterates the company's strong performance in clean electricity generation projects, but also in strategic undertakings for the sustainable development of the regions”, explains Paulo Sinoti, director of WEG.

Thermoelectric plants are part of Roraima's electrical safety plan

The four thermoelectric plants are part of the electrical safety plan designed for the State of Roraima, which since 2019 has stopped importing energy from Venezuela and has become fully dependent on local thermoelectric plants, which operate with diesel oil. Daily fuel consumption varies from 700 to 1.100 million liters in the state.

According to ANEEL holding this auction is a historic milestone for Roraima. As of June 2021, the state will have reliable electrical service, with local generation and the future line that will connect Roraima to the National Interconnected System. This will attract industries to the state, providing better quality of life for the population.

WEG equipment deliveries will take place in the first quarter of 2021, with energy operation/sales expected by June 2021.
