Nir Lander, Director of Planning & People at Ocyan, explains that for the offshore workforce, who work on a rotation schedule (14 days on board and 14 days off), the time on board is already adjusted according to the expected birth date to prioritize this agenda.
“Our main goal is to ensure that all parent members can be present in the first 15 days of the newborn’s life. Since our offshore member has 14 days off each month, the legally mandated leave period of five consecutive days is not extended, as in this case, they have the privilege of being 19 consecutive days with the child,” says the executive.
Diversity & Inclusion Program and Ocyan Baby
Since 2019, Ocyan has had the Diversity & Inclusion program and has expanded the company’s best practices with the creation of Ocyan Baby, which aims to provide personalized support, guidance, and assistance to all pregnant members and their spouses during pregnancy, childbirth, and maternity leave. Mothers can choose to extend their legally mandated leave by 15 days or follow a reduced work schedule of four hours a day until the child is six months old. This time, the extension of leave aims to meet the needs of fathers.
On another front, as part of the Diversity program, Ocyan aims to increase the number of People with Disabilities in its workforce, especially considering the challenges inherent to the segment, which predominantly operates offshore and employs about 70% of the workforce.
“Our positions are open to everyone, as long as they meet the technical qualifications and specific competencies for each role. We understand that the offshore environment has some specificities related to safety requirements that may limit the performance of certain types of disabilities for specific functions,” explains Camilla Braz, head of Ocyan’s Diversity and Inclusion Program.
