High-Potential Accident Reportedly Occurred During Valve Maneuver of the Seawater Intake System Aboard the P74 Platform Operated by Petrobras
The Oil Workers Union of Rio de Janeiro, Sindipetro-RJ, reported yesterday the accident involving Petrobras employee Evandro Abramov, who was working aboard the Petrobras P74 platform in the Santos basin.
The accident occurred around 6:20 PM on Tuesday (06/04), while the oil worker was performing a maneuver on a valve of the seawater intake system, resulting in the projection of the valve actuator that struck his forearm.
The union became aware of the accident the day after it occurred during the disembarkation of teams in Cabo Frio, RJ.
The operator suffered a fracture in his arm and was taken to Hospital Vitória, in Barra da Tijuca, West Zone of Rio de Janeiro, where he underwent surgery and was subsequently transferred to Hospital Samaritano, Botafogo, South Zone of Rio de Janeiro.

Union’s Actions
Sindipetro-RJ stated in a note that its medical representative went to the hospital on Wednesday (06/05), in Barra da Tijuca, to visit oil worker Evandro Abramov, 31, who has been with Petrobras for 9 years, and learned that had the valve actuator struck his chest or head, the consequences could have been much more severe.
The note further informs that the Petrobras employee underwent surgery, is in stable condition, and that the union’s doctor, Lilian Vieira, spoke with the injured party, who is fully aware of the gravity of the accident.
Sindipetro-RJ, as is customary in accidents involving Petrobras, has already taken actions to initiate its own investigation, but will join the official investigations of Petrobras, having already appointed a director to participate in the Commission.
The P-74 belongs to Petrobras and operates in the Búzios Field, located about 200 km from the city of Rio de Janeiro.
