In Just 100 Days of Operation at the Alagoas Pole, Origem Energia Doubled Natural Gas Production in the Fields and Managed to Reduce Fuel Prices, Now Investing in Even Greater Expansion of Results
Last Sunday, (05/15), after completing 100 days of operation at Petrobras’ Alagoas Pole, Origem Energia announced that it had managed to double natural gas production at the site and reduce fuel prices. Now, the company intends to continue reopening wells and exploring new reserves in the fields, aiming to make these results even greater throughout the year 2022.
Origem Energia’s Natural Gas Production in the Alagoas Pole Fields Has Doubled, With Company Investments in the Region for Exploration Expansion
Origem Energia has just completed 100 days of operation in the Alagoas Pole fields, one of the largest assets in Petrobras’ divestment program, and has already achieved remarkable results in this short period of exploration. The company announced that it has managed to double its natural gas production during these 100 days and intends to make these numbers even more significant over the coming months in the pole’s fields.
The Alagoas Pole includes the Paru field in shallow waters and the land fields of Pilar, Furado, Anambé, Arapaçu, São Miguel dos Campos, and Cidade São Miguel dos Campos, and it is a major natural gas reserve for Origem Energia’s exploration. Thus, since acquiring the pole and starting production in the local fields, the company has managed to double the figures, which rose from 396 thousand cubic meters daily in February to 814 thousand cubic meters per day at the end of April.
All these results were made possible thanks to the incentives for the expansion of natural gas exploration and production that Origem Energia implemented during these first 100 days operating in the pole. Thus, the company focused on reopening inactive wells and searching for new reserves for fuel exploration, essential for the entire production chain of national commerce. In addition, there were a number of operational interventions aimed at ensuring more productivity and efficiency in this production during these months.
Natural Gas Prices Decreased in the State of Alagoas After the Company’s 100 Days of Operation in the Alagoas Pole Fields
Although the increase in natural gas production in the Alagoas Pole by Origem Energia was a benefit for the region, it was not the only advantage in the company’s first 100 days of operation. Now, according to the National Petroleum Agency (ANP), natural gas prices have significantly decreased in the state of Alagoas after the company’s production began in recent months, thus ensuring a good management outlook for the company in 2022.
Furthermore, the royalties from natural gas paid to the state have increased, with the projection for 2022 being R$ 110 million in royalties, 2.3 times higher than the amount in 2021. Thus, Luiz Felipe Coutinho, CEO of Origem Energia, highlights the main objectives of the venture in the Alagoas Pole fields with natural gas exploration and states, “We are working to make Alagoas the main energy hub of the Northeast.”
The acquisition of the Alagoas Pole for the production of natural gas in the region’s fields by Origem Energia occurred on July 5, 2021, for US$ 300 million, and even after only 100 days of operation in the pole, the company has already shown its intention to invest efforts in expanding fuel productivity.
