The Tramandaí unit, located on the northern coast of Rio Grande do Sul, spans approximately 10,000 square meters, received an announced investment of R$ 100 million (about US$18 million), and created around 200 jobs. The Havan mega store became the 23rd operation of the chain in Rio Grande do Sul and the third opened in the state just in 2026.

The new Havan mega store in Tramandaí was inaugurated on August 15, 2026, on the northern coast of Rio Grande do Sul, following a construction project that Luciano Hang claimed was completed in 90 days. With this opening, the retailer reached its 195th unit in operation in Brazil.

The venture received an announced investment of R$ 100 million (about US$18 million), spans around 10,000 square meters, and generated approximately 200 jobs, according to information released by the company. The inauguration brought Havan to five new stores away from the goal of reaching 200 units by the end of the year of its 40th anniversary.

The opening took place at 10 am on Saturday, August 15, with the presence of Luciano Hang. Customers waited in the parking lot before the operations began, as the company organized presentations to celebrate the arrival of the store in the city.

According to ND Mais, the Tramandaí unit raised the number of mega stores in the chain to 195 nationwide. This figure also placed the company five store openings away from its main expansion target for 2026.

The national count is significant because the company plans to open the 200th store in the same year it celebrates four decades of activity. The chain started in 1986 in Brusque, Santa Catarina, and expanded its model of large physical stores across various regions of Brazil.

The inauguration represented not only a new municipal presence but also marked the final phase of its more symbolically significant expansion. The company still needed to turn five projects into open operations to consider the goal met by the announced deadline.

Announced investment reached R$ 100 million

The Havan mega store was built on an area of approximately 10,000 square meters. The investment of R$ 100 million (about US$18 million) reported by the company covered the establishment of the project, but no public breakdown was provided to separate expenses for land, construction, equipment, inventory, and operational preparation.

The structure includes a sales area, free parking, and a food court. The facade also features a replica of the Statue of Liberty, an architectural element used by the chain in various cities and incorporated into the visual identity of its units.

According to the company, the commercial space offers over 350,000 products. This number describes the mix announced for operations and does not necessarily indicate that all items are available in the same quantity or remain continuously in stock.

The R$ 100 million constitutes the total amount announced by Havan and is not an externally calculated estimate. The lack of a breakdown of expenses prevents determining how much was specifically allocated to physical construction and how much was attributed to other implementation stages of the store.

90-Day Construction Relied on Simultaneous Build and Approvals

During the inauguration, Luciano Hang stated that the construction began and ended in 90 days. The businessman attributed the speed to the reception found in Tramandaí and the municipal administration’s efficiency in releasing the necessary documentation for the project.

The reported timeframe refers to the execution presented by the owner of the chain. The report did not publish the exact day construction began, the schedule for each permit, or a technical timeline capable of showing which stages occurred simultaneously during the three months.

Constructing a unit of this scale involves foundations, structures, installations, finishing, parking, receiving goods, and hiring staff. Even when physical construction advances rapidly, some preparations can occur off-site, such as recruitment, purchasing, and logistical organization.

The 90 days should be understood as the period declared by Hang between the start of construction and the inauguration. Without detailed technical documents, it is impossible to separately measure the time spent on prior planning, licensing, commercial setup, or stocking the Havan mega store.

Operation Created Approximately 200 Jobs in the Region

The company attributed the new unit to creating approximately 200 jobs for residents of Tramandaí and nearby municipalities. This figure refers to the positions associated with the startup of operations, without disclosing a breakdown by role, hours, pay, or proportion of permanent and temporary contracts.

The hiring extends the local impact beyond the movement of consumers. A mega store also demands maintenance, cleaning, security, supply, transportation, and services, although the source did not quantify potential indirect positions related to suppliers or third-party companies.

Tramandaí is located about 120 kilometers from Porto Alegre and is part of an area known for its beach tourism. The municipality experiences a seasonal influx of visitors, a characteristic that can influence retail activity, especially during the summer months and holidays.

The jobs are a tangible effect announced with the store’s arrival, but the overall economic impact will depend on the permanence of the positions and the relationship with existing commerce. The report did not present data on revenue, salaries, local competition, or changes in consumer flow.

Rio Grande do Sul Passes to 23 Mega Stores

With Tramandaí, Havan has reached 23 units in Rio Grande do Sul. The count available on the official store locator confirms the state as one of the largest concentrations of the company’s stores, behind Santa Catarina, Paraná, and São Paulo.

The Havan mega store in Tramandaí was the third opened in the state in 2026. Prior to it, the company opened a unit in Taquara in May and another in Garibaldi in June, showing a concentration of recent expansion in the state.

The Garibaldi store also has approximately 10,000 square meters and created 200 jobs but received an announced investment of R$ 90 million (about US$ 17 million). It became the 193rd national unit and the 22nd in Rio Grande do Sul, as reported by the Havan institutional blog.

The sequence of Taquara, Garibaldi, and Tramandaí shows that the growth in the state was not dependent on a single isolated inauguration. The company has also confirmed plans for Torres and Osório, in addition to forecasting new operations in the metropolitan area of Porto Alegre and in the southern part of the state.

Projects in Torres and Osório Reinforce Bet on the Coast

The confirmed units in Torres and Osório enhance the retailer’s focus on the coast of Rio Grande do Sul. Both cities are connected to regional travel and tourist flow, although it is still necessary to observe when each project will actually open.

Confirming a future store does not equate to adding it immediately to the national total. For it to count toward the 200 units, the project must complete construction, receive commercial structure, form a team, and start operations, steps that may experience changes in scheduling.

The location of the Havan mega store in Tramandaí on Avenida Fernandes Bastos places the operation on one of the important roads in the municipality. The scale of the parking lot and built area aligns with a model aimed at receiving consumers from various neighborhoods and nearby cities.

The coastal expansion combines resident markets and seasonal circulation, but the company has not disclosed specific sales projections for Tramandaí, Torres, or Osório. Without this data, it is impossible to gauge how much of the investment depends on the local audience and how much accounts for tourist activity.

Network Needs to Open Five More Stores to Reach Goal

Reaching the milestone of 195 units left Havan with a straightforward calculation: five more openings would be needed by the end of 2026 to reach the announced 200 mega stores. This goal was linked to the company’s 40th anniversary.

In June, when the chain was still indicating it was eight units away from this goal, the company announced that the 200th store would be inaugurated in Fortaleza, Ceará, with plans set for November. This information appears on the official 40th anniversary blog of Havan.

The progress from eight to five remaining stores indicates that three units have been added to the chain since that update. Still, the company would need to maintain the pace of construction and adhere to local schedules to complete the planned openings before the end of the year.

The goal of 200 stores remained close, but it was not yet fulfilled with the opening in Tramandaí. Licenses, construction, hiring, and operational preparations continued to be crucial for the five remaining projects to transition from planning to open units.

Revenue of R$ 22 billion remains the projection for 2026

In addition to the number of stores, Havan announced its intention to end 2026 with around 25,000 employees and revenue of R$ 22 billion. Both indicators are part of the corporate goals associated with the company’s four-decade anniversary.

For 2025, the Havan Group reported revenue of R$ 18.5 billion, which represents a growth of over 16% compared to 2024. This data was disclosed by the organization itself and was not accompanied, in the source material, by detailed financial statements or an independent audit opinion.

Revenue represents the income obtained before the deduction of costs, expenses, and taxes, and is not synonymous with profit. Therefore, the increase in sales does not allow for conclusive assessments of how profitability, debt levels, or returns on investments in the new stores have evolved.

To achieve R$ 22 billion, the group would need to elevate revenue by approximately R$ 3.5 billion over the figure reported for 2025. This difference corresponds to a nominal expansion of about 18.9%, but remains a goal, not a result already recorded.

Mega store in Tramandaí brings the chain closer to the mark of 200 units

The Havan mega store in Tramandaí encompasses the main elements of the current expansion phase: significant investment, fast-paced construction according to the entrepreneur, regional hiring, and the continued physical advancement of the retailer. After reaching 195 stores, the company reduced the distance to its most publicized commemorative mark.

The final outcome for 2026, however, will depend on the remaining five openings and the consolidated financial performance. Tramandaí brought Havan closer to the goal but did not confirm in advance either the 200 units or the projected revenue of R$ 22 billion.

In your opinion, which result should weigh more when evaluating an expansion of this scale: jobs created, speed of construction, investment volume, impact on local commerce, or meeting financial goals? Tell us in the comments which of these points deserves more attention and why.
