Want To Turn Shopee Into A Source Of Income But Don’t Know Where To Start? Learn How To Sell On Shopee With A Complete Step-By-Step Guide, From Registration To Strategies For Success.

With millions of active users every day, Shopee has become one of Brazil’s largest storefronts, representing an incredible opportunity for those looking to start a business or make extra income from home. If you’re considering entering this universe, knowing how to sell on Shopee the right way is the first step to turning this opportunity into a profitable business.

The success on the platform, however, doesn’t happen by accident. You need to follow a structured path that goes from understanding the rules to creating listings that truly catch customers’ attention. This guide was created to show you exactly that path, in a simple and straightforward way.

Step 1: Know The Rules Of The Game

First of all, the most important and often overlooked step is: read Shopee’s policies. Many beginner sellers skip this step and end up having their accounts suspended for violating some rule they were unaware of, such as selling prohibited products. Understanding what can and cannot be done is the foundation for building a lasting business. You can find all the guidelines in the “Seller Education Center” on Shopee’s own website.

Step 2: Register As A Seller

The process to become a seller is simple. You can start selling either with your CPF (individual taxpayer registry) or with a CNPJ (business taxpayer identification).

  • Seller CPF: Ideal for those who are starting and want to test the market. The registration is quick and requires only your personal information.
  • Seller CNPJ: Recommended for those who want to start in a more professional way. Sellers with a CNPJ (which can be an MEI) have access to benefits such as Shopee’s shipping program (Shopee Xpress) and receive payments from sales more quickly.

Tip: You can start with the CPF and, as your sales grow, migrate your account to CNPJ without losing your history and ratings. The important thing is to get started!

Step 3: Choosing The Right Product

The product is your main tool for work. Here, there are two scenarios:

  • If You Already Have A Product: Your job is to validate whether it has potential on Shopee. Do some research on the platform and answer two questions:
    1. Is There Demand? Check if your competitors are selling a similar product in good volume. Listings with thousands of sales are a great indicator.
    2. Is Your Price Competitive? Analyze the prices of the best-selling products and see if yours fits within that range. Being competitive doesn’t mean being the cheapest, but being within the market average.
  • If You Don’t Have A Product: The most common mistake is trying to sell the already best-selling products. Competition will be huge, and your price will hardly be competitive. The best strategy is to look for suppliers and manufacturers in your city or nearby regions. This will give you a cost and logistical advantage, allowing you to validate products with a greater chance of success.

Step 4: Create Listings That Sell

A good product needs a good listing. When registering your items on Shopee, pay attention to the following points:

  • Title: Be clear and use keywords that customers would use to search for your product.
  • Photos And Videos: Invest in high-quality images that show the product from various angles. A short video demonstrating use is a significant differentiator.
  • Description: Be as detailed as possible. Provide measurements, materials, functionalities, and anything else relevant to the customer.

Step 5: Generate Exposure For Your Products

With listings live, it’s time to get people to find them. To make sales, you need clicks, and to get clicks, you need visibility (exposure). Shopee offers tools for this:

  • Boost: A free tool that puts your listing at the top of the search results for the category for a period. You can use it every 4 hours.
  • Shopee Ads: A paid tool where you invest an amount to have your listings prominently appear to customers searching for keywords related to your product.

Step 6: The Mindset For Success

Finally, understanding how to sell on Shopee is also about having the right mindset. Success doesn’t come overnight. It takes dedication to learn, focus to apply strategies, and persistence to not give up in the face of the first challenges. E-commerce is a dynamic environment, and being willing to adapt is what sets successful sellers apart.

And you, are you ready to take the first step and start selling on Shopee? What type of product do you believe has great potential on the platform? Leave your opinion in the comments!
