New Round of Pé-de-Meia Starts This Monday and Follows Calendar Until October 6, with Amounts Released by Caixa Tem Subject to Minimum School Attendance
The Pé-de-Meia program started this Monday (29) the disbursement of the new installment of R$ 200 designated for high school students from public schools. The first beneficiaries are the young people born in January and February, who can already access the benefit through the Caixa Tem app.
According to Caixa Econômica Federal, payments will be made in a staggered manner until October 6, organized by students’ birth month. The measure aims to avoid system overload and ensure predictability in access to funds.
Who is Entitled to the Benefit
The Pé-de-Meia is aimed at students registered in CadÚnico, with a family income of up to half the minimum wage per person, and who maintain a minimum attendance of 80% in classes.

Students over 18 receive the amount in already unlocked accounts.
In the case of minors, it is necessary for the legal guardian to authorize the transaction, either through the app or at a Caixa branch.
How to Release the Amount in Caixa Tem
The payment is automatically credited to the digital account.
For those who have not yet used the Caixa Tem app, it is necessary to complete the unlocking by following the instructions on the platform or in person.
Authorization ensures access to the money and allows the student to monitor future deposits more efficiently.
In addition to Caixa Tem, the Ministry of Education provides the Jornada do Estudante app, which allows users to check school attendance and the status of each payment.
Complete Calendar of Pé-de-Meia
The schedule set by the government organizes dates according to students’ months of birth:

May and June: October 1
July and August: October 2
September and October: October 3

Program Structure and Additional Amounts
Created by Law No. 14.818/2024, the Pé-de-Meia functions as a student savings account.
In addition to the monthly R$ 200 linked to attendance, the program provides for additional deposits of R$ 1,000 at the end of each school year completed with approval.
These funds are retained until the completion of high school, when they can be withdrawn in full.
The logic is twofold: to offer immediate support for school retention while also creating a financial reserve for the young person’s future.
With this, the government aims to encourage the completion of basic education and open pathways for greater social mobility.
The Pé-de-Meia already benefits thousands of students and promises to establish itself as a tool against school dropout.
With each round, the debate grows on how education-linked cash transfer programs can impact the future of Brazilian youth.
And you, do you believe that the Pé-de-Meia will really help students stay in high school and complete their studies? In your view, is this financial incentive model sufficient, or does the country need additional measures? Share your opinion in the comments.
