The Used Mitsubishi Outlander 2.2 Turbo Diesel Became a Find, With 7 Seats, 4×4 Traction Costing Around R$ 142 Thousand at FIPE. In Size, It Is Close to the Jeep Commander, and in Many Scenarios, It Costs the Same as a New VW Tera High.

The heated 7-seat SUV market has created an interesting paradox: larger, fully-equipped used models priced like new compact SUVs. This is the case of the Outlander 2.2 Turbo Diesel HPE-S, which combines robustness, Japanese reliability, and a safety package that is hard to find in this price range.

In the FIPE Table from August 2025, the 2019 Outlander 2.2 Diesel appears at R$ 142,778, a value that makes it accessible to those currently considering a well-equipped new compact SUV. This is a competitive position, especially for families needing seven seats and an electric trunk.

In contrast to the zero kilometers, the VW Tera was launched in 2025 with an urban proposal and updated technology. In the High version, the launch prices started at R$ 139,990, and with optional packages, they reach around R$ 142,290. This means that, in many cases, a diesel Outlander of good provenance could cost the same or less than the top-tier Tera.

By size, the Outlander also stands out, measuring 4,695 mm in length and 2,670 mm in wheelbase, dimensions that bring it close to the Jeep Commander in total length. In other words, you pay for a compact and take a large SUV to your garage.

Outlander 2.2 Diesel 7 Seats: Technical Specifications and Measurements That Approach the Commander

Under the hood is the 2,268 cm³ Turbo Diesel engine with 165 hp and 36.7 kgfm between 1,500 and 2,750 rpm, linked to a 6-speed automatic transmission with sequential mode. The 4WD traction offers Eco, Auto, and Lock modes, which help both in efficiency and grip on rough surfaces.

In dimensions, the Outlander delivers 4,695 mm in length, 1,810 mm in width, and 1,680 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,670 mm. These measurements are very close to those of larger SUVs on the market. The Commander, for instance, measures 4,769 mm in length, only about 7.4 cm more than the Mitsubishi.

The trunk varies according to the use of the seats. With the third row folded down, it offers 495 liters, a volume suitable for trips. With seven seats active, the compartment is reduced to about 120 liters, standard for this 5+2 arrangement. It is a third row for occasional use, perfect for an extended family on short outings.

Fuel Consumption and Range, How They Reach 822 km per Tank

The fuel consumption figures for the diesel Outlander in Brazil are known: 10.8 km/l in the city and 13.7 km/l on the highway, with a 60-liter tank. The mechanical set operates at low rotations, and the six-speed transmission helps keep the engine at the ideal torque point in cruise.

Calculating the highway range based on the consumption of 13.7 km/l, we arrive at something close to 820 km per tank. Various technical sheets and local assessments already indicate 822 km in favorable scenarios, reflecting the model’s traveling nature.

For those who drive a lot on single-lane roads or undertake long trips with the family, this 800+ km range reduces stops and gives cost predictability. It is one of the central differentiators of diesel versus 7-seat gasoline SUVs in the same price range.

How Much Does a 2019 Outlander 2.2 HPE-S Cost According to FIPE, Listings, and Depreciation

As of August 2025, the FIPE for the 2019 Outlander 2.2 HPE-S marks R$ 142,778. In real listings, it is common to find prices ranging from R$ 139.9 thousand to R$ 159 thousand, varying by mileage, history, and condition.

To provide context, when it was launched in 2019, the diesel Outlander cost around R$ 209,990 in its most complete version. The accumulated depreciation since then positions it today as a rational purchase for those needing space and wanting to avoid smaller 0 km SUVs.

It’s important to note that values fluctuate by region and by equipment package. Before closing a deal, it is worth checking the FIPE of the month, cautious report, and the history of confirmed maintenance in the network.

Equipment and Safety, Complete Package for Family

Among the items of active safety, the diesel Outlander offers stability control (ASC), traction control (ATC), and ABS brakes with EBD. In the top versions, it is common to find adaptive cruise control (ACC) and autonomous emergency braking (FCM/AEB), features that elevate the level of protection in road use.

In terms of comfort, the leather seats with adjustments, and in many cases, heating, the electric trunk with keyless entry, 18-inch wheels, and the camera with sensor assistance stand out. These are equipment that, combined, make the used vehicle “age” well against newly launched compact SUVs.

Overall, the diesel Outlander establishes itself as a 7-seat family car focused on travel, maintaining good cabin ergonomics and a high driving position. For those transitioning from a midsize sedan or compact SUV, the feeling is like “moving up a level”.

Maintenance, Reviews, and Insurance

Mitsubishi in Brazil operates with reviews every 10,000 km or 6 months, whichever comes first. This preserves the warranty and helps keep the diesel in good condition, but requires budget planning due to the frequency.

Long-term tests on equivalent vehicles showed accumulated review costs up to 60,000 km around R$ 8,000 in the pre-pandemic period, along with observations about autonomous braking and other electronic items that should be checked during test drives. It is prudent to simulate insurance and budget for worn parts like shock absorbers and optical sets, which can be expensive in the aftermarket.

Is It Worth It in 2025? Honest Comparison With VW Tera and Size Reference to Jeep Commander

In terms of size, the Outlander competes with large SUVs, while the VW Tera is an urban and lightweight SUV. If the priority is a large family, long trips, and occasional towing capacity, the Mitsubishi has the advantage.

In terms of price, the Tera High was in the range of R$ 139,990 at launch and, with package, came to around R$ 142,290. The 2019 diesel Outlander moves in the FIPE of R$ 142,778, with chances of negotiation in listings. The trade-off is clear: newer technology and connectivity of the Tera versus 7 seats, 4×4, and range of 822 km of the Outlander.

For those looking for family cost-effectiveness, the Outlander 2.2 Turbo Diesel remains a solid bet in 2025. It is the kind of purchase that solves space issues now and delays the desire to exchange anytime soon.
