Companies Get Two More Months to Submit Proposals to Petrobras. These Are the Only Open Subsea Engineering Bids from the Oil Company
The bidding for subsea equipment for Mero 2 and Búzios V from Petrobras has just been postponed. Interested companies have gained two more months to study the project and detail their proposals. Equinor Will Hire a Rig for Carcará!
The new deadline from Petrobras has shifted from this month of October to December 9 and 30, respectively, and the bidding is in the EPCI model (engineering, procurement, construction, and installation).
Favorite Companies
Although a strong demand for subsea equipment in the market is expected in the coming years, this Petrobras bidding is currently the only large-scale bid open in the market.
The largest international companies in the sector are in the race, and we can cite the giants: Subsea 7, Saipem, Sapura, TechnipFMC, and McDermott as favorites.

These are the only significant bids in the subsea engineering segment currently underway in the market. Among the potential candidates for the contracts are McDermott, Saipem, Sapura, Subsea 7, and TechnipFMC.
Of these companies, TechnipFMC and McDermott have already secured other contracts with Petrobras, but the others are still fighting for space.
The subsea EPCI contract for Mero 1 was awarded to TechnipFMC in February this year. Three months later, McDermott Signed a Contract with Petrobras for the Sépia Field, which, like Búzios, is in the onerous assignment area.
Petrobras should not make further delays, as it could compromise the development schedule of the fields, and some equipment takes considerable time to be ready. The first oil from Mero 2 and Búzios V is scheduled for 2022.
Speaking of subsea equipment, October 14 will be marked in history for Aker Solutions in Brazil. The company delivered the hundredth subsea tree for Petrobras projects in the pre-salt area. In May this year, the company’s factory in Paraná delivered a wet tree to Equinor.
