With Aerial Operations Halted, State Company Reacted in Record Time to Keep Its Strategic Logistics Running in the Heart of the Forest
Petrobras showed agility by urgently hiring Azul Airlines to ensure the continuity of flights previously operated by Voepass/Map in the Amazon. The measure was taken after Anac suspended Voepass’s Air Operator Certificate due to operational failures. To avoid the risk of interruptions in the activities of the Urucu unit, located more than 650 km from Manaus, the state company wasted no time and made an agreement with a company already qualified in its logistics system. According to InfoMoney and the newspaper O Tempo, the decision was strategic and essential for maintaining energy production in remote regions.
Petrobras Acts Quickly and Closes Deal with Azul
With the sudden suspension of Voepass, Petrobras needed to ensure the immediate continuity of its air routes in the North region. The company opted for Azul, which had already been previously approved under the state company’s technical criteria and held certification in Peotram, the internal program that regulates safety and quality in air and maritime transport. The choice ensured a quick, safe, and efficient transition, qualities that Petrobras seeks to maintain in all its operations, especially in hard-to-access regions like the Amazon.
Voepass Suspension Was Considered High Risk
Anac determined the precautionary suspension of Voepass after finding irregularities in the company’s operational management systems. The measure prevented the continuity of Petrobras’s logistical flights, generating immediate concerns about supplying its bases. As highlighted by InfoMoney, Voepass flights were essential for bringing technicians, engineers, and supplies to the Urucu unit. Without this transport, there would be a risk of temporary demobilization, something unacceptable for a strategic operation of a giant like Petrobras.

Amazon Flights Are Vital for Petrobras
Aerial logistics are fundamental for Petrobras’s operations in remote areas. The Urucu unit, located in the interior of Amazonas, depends almost exclusively on chartered flights to maintain its production rhythm and operational safety. According to the newspaper O Tempo, any failure in this transport directly impacts the production, maintenance, and supply schedule. Therefore, Petrobras treats aerial logistics as a priority, placing it on the same level of criticality as its production assets.
Azul Was the Safest and Most Effective Technical Choice
The hiring of Azul followed strict compliance and safety evaluation protocols, as explained by Petrobras in an official statement. Being already qualified in the Peotram program, Azul was able to quickly take over the routes without the need for logistical adjustments. The company has a history of operating in remote regions, which worked in its favor during the selection process. Petrobras emphasized that it continues to prioritize rigorous technical and operational criteria to ensure excellence in its air network.
Petrobras Shows Strength and Logistical Resilience in Times of Crisis
More than just a simple airline swap, Petrobras’s rapid response demonstrates its ability to act swiftly in critical situations. The state company turned a logistical risk into an opportunity to strengthen its operational structure. Just as it does with its strategic assets, Petrobras showed that it also maintains absolute control over its support infrastructure, an essential stance to continue being a reference in energy, innovation, and operational safety in Brazil and worldwide.
