Petrobras, In Addition to Technologies, Announced a New Frontier for Oil and Gas Production. The Outlook Is That Several New Job Opportunities Will Be Generated for Offshore Industry Professionals in the Coming Years
Do you know where the newest oil and gas production frontier in the country is? It is in the Northeast of Brazil, where Petrobras plans to install a new production platform in 2026. This is the Deep Waters Sergipe Project (SEAP), located in the Sergipe-Alagoas Basin, which has 3,000 meters of depth. The project has substantial reserves and a promising production outlook, consistent with the company’s strategy of focusing on deepwater assets with high value generation potential, resilient to low oil and gas price scenarios and with low pollutant emissions. The state’s investments in this frontier will open several opportunities for the offshore sector and also expand job opportunities.

Sergipe Deep Waters Will Be One of the Most Relevant in Terms of Oil and Gas
According to Petrobras, the Deep Waters Sergipe Project, in addition to generating opportunities in the offshore sector, will also be one of the most significant in its portfolio from the perspective of oil and gas production volume.
Therefore, the company also contributes to expanding the gas supply for the national market, fostering the development of the local industry in the regions of Alagoas and Sergipe, especially those that rely on gas as an input.
In the context of the ongoing development of the new national gas market, attracting more investors and investments, Petrobras invests and believes in the evolution of this market. The project also presents dual resilience, both in cost, respecting the Brent equilibrium of US$ 35/barrel in the long term and sustainable, in terms of CO2 intensity per barrel produced.
Petrobras’ Project, in Addition to Opening New Opportunities in the Offshore Sector, Also Presents New Challenges
Another important factor is that the oil generated in this frontier is light, meaning it has a higher value in the market. However, the new project still brings, despite new opportunities in the offshore sector, a tremendous technological challenge.
The company is facing the greatest depths ever achieved. In the exploration phase, Petrobras set the Brazilian record for drilling a well, reaching a depth of 2,990 meters of water, equivalent to the height of Pico da Neblina, the highest peak in the country.
