Nubank Is Investing in a Technology Development Hub in Bahia to Empower Youth. In September, Over 8,000 People Expressed Interest in the Institution’s Qualification Courses
One of the largest digital financial service platforms in the world, Nubank, announced the creation of a hub for technology development and customer experience in the state of Bahia. The hub, named NuLab, is located in the Rio Vermelho neighborhood of Salvador and will serve as a vector for social projects to empower youth in situations of social vulnerability and markers of inclusion and diversity. The location of Nubank’s hub will undergo some renovations in the coming months and is expected to be fully operational next year. The public opening will be based on assessments of the COVID-19 pandemic scenario.

Nubank Hired a Specialized Team to Focus Solely on Salvador
To kick off its activities, Nubank created a specialized team that will be based in Salvador. The regional head of the technology hub project and ESG manager, Mayra Mezzomo, was selected to work alongside the team established by the company.
According to the manager, the project was designed with a completely different space, aiming to bring the plurality of Nubank’s clients into the development of its technology and product services.
Moreover, the company plans to empower youth and enhance access to knowledge to positively impact the community around it. According to Mayra, as a Nubank employee and resident of Salvador, she is very proud to be part of this initiative by the company in Bahia.
Nubank Opens Applications to Empower Youth in Bahia
In September of this year, the technology hub created to empower youth opened slots for its first training initiative for those living in the state of Bahia.
The program, developed alongside the EdTechs Cubos Academy, located in the state capital, and Alura, attracted over 8,000 people interested in learning more about the mobile software development course.
Furthermore, the program will announce in the coming weeks the selected participants for the qualification. According to Mayra, the company is very excited about the launch of this first project to empower youth in the state, which also demonstrates the region’s potential for initiatives aimed at development and technology sectors—professions that are currently in high demand in the market.
