With technical and financial feasibility studies in their final phase, the president revealed that the factory’s reactivation is closer than ever. The final decision will go through the Executive Board and the Board of Directors of the state-owned oil company.
Jean Paul Prates emphasized the strategic importance of the fertilizer sector for Petrobras and for Brazil as a whole during his visit.
He highlighted that the country is a major producer of agricultural commodities but faces significant challenges in supplying foreign-sourced fertilizers.
The reactivation of ANSA will not only reduce the country’s dependence on imports but will also boost the local economy through job and income generation.
ANSA, a factory with the capacity to process about 1,900 tons per day of urea and 1,300 tons per day of ammonia, will play a crucial role in agricultural fertilizer production and other sectors.
The raw material used in the factory, asphalt residue, will be obtained from the Refinery Presidente Getúlio Vargas (Repar), which is located in the same city in the state of Paraná.
Petrobras Advances in the Feasibility Study Phase to Revive Production at ANSA
William França, Petrobras’ Director of Industrial Processes and Products, highlighted the company’s responsibility regarding ANSA’s resumption.
He stated that Petrobras’ decisions are based on careful analyses of technical and financial feasibility.
Additionally, the resumption of production will not only contribute to operational and environmental safety but will also bring relief to local communities that have faced economic challenges since the factory’s hibernation.
Prates also reaffirmed Petrobras’ commitment to Paraná by highlighting the crucial role of REPAR in the company’s strategy.
REPAR, a reference in innovation and technique, is one of the pillars of Petrobras’ success in the state.
The factory is responsible for a significant share of the company’s sales and plays a vital role in refining diesel and gasoline, being a key component in national supply.
In addition to the plans for ANSA, Petrobras has more news on the Paraná horizon.
Recently, the company obtained authorization from the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) to increase its production capacity of renewable diesel (Diesel R) at REPAR.
