Contract with Constellation Anticipates Use of Seventh Generation Vessel in Roncador Field, Campos Basin
Petrobras has signed a contract valued at US$ 500 million with Constellation Oil Services to utilize the drillship Tidal Action in operations at the Roncador field in the Campos Basin. The state-of-the-art vessel, recently reactivated in South Korea, will be employed in ultra-deepwater drilling as part of the state-owned company’s strategy to expand its presence in the pre-salt region. The information was disclosed by Bahia Verdade and technically detailed by Riviera Maritime Media.
Reactivated Drillship Heads to Brazil
According to Bahia Verdade, the drillship Tidal Action was officially named in a ceremony held at the Hanwha Ocean shipyard in South Korea. Previously known as West Libra, the equipment has been modernized and is in the final phase of preparation for its journey to the Brazilian coast, where it will operate under a two-and-a-half-year contract with Petrobras.
The portal Riviera Maritime Media adds that the vessel is classified as a seventh generation ship, capable of operating in depths of up to 3,600 meters, which makes it ideal for the demands of pre-salt drilling.
