Government of Sergipe and Petrobras Align Investments in the Oil and Gas Sector. SEAP Project May Transform the State’s Economy with Record Production and Job Generation.

The Government of Sergipe and Petrobras took an important step this Friday (25) by aligning strategic actions that promise to elevate the state to a new level in the oil and gas sector. The meeting between Governor Fábio Mitidieri and Petrobras’ Director of Exploration and Production, Sylvia dos Anjos, focused on the investments planned in the Sergipe Deep Waters Project (SEAP), as well as the resumption of the Nitrogen Fertilizer Plant (Fafen) and the inclusion of the state in the company’s social programs.

Expected to produce up to 18 million cubic meters of natural gas and 240,000 barrels of oil per day, SEAP is considered a landmark of economic transformation for Sergipe, capable of attracting global companies, generating jobs, and stimulating sustainable growth in the region.

During the meeting, the governor highlighted the project’s impact:

“We are talking about up to 18 million cubic meters of gas and 240,000 barrels of oil per day. This changes the level of Sergipe and attracts new investments, generating more jobs, income, and opportunities for our people,” said Fábio Mitidieri.

The bidding for the two FPSO platforms (floating production, storage and offloading units) has been postponed to September 30, at the request of the market, due to the high interest from international companies.

According to Sylvia dos Anjos, Petrobras’ expectations are positive:

“We are confident that the contracting will be successful and, with that, we can start the implementation phase with a defined schedule.”

Another point discussed was the decommissioning of 26 platforms in the Sergipe-Alagoas Basin, which has become the second largest in the country in terms of the volume of these operations. The planned investment is US$ 1.7 billion by 2029.

To support this phase, the Jack Up Arabia 1 platform and the Norwind Gale vessel arrived in the state, which are expected to double the number of workers onboard by the end of the year.

The Government of Sergipe also emphasized the importance of Fafen, located in Laranjeiras, whose reactivation strengthens the Brazilian agro-industrial sector with the domestic production of fertilizers.

In addition, the state is seeking its inclusion in the next phases of Petrobras’ Autonomy and Income program, which focuses on professional training and productive inclusion of the population in areas impacted by the company’s large enterprises.

At the end of the meeting, the governor reaffirmed the state’s role as a key player in advancing the energy sector in Brazil.

“We are ready to lead this historic moment for Brazil and the Northeast. Energy is development, and Sergipe is at the center of this transformation,” concluded Fábio Mitidieri.

The meeting was also attended by Senator Alessandro Vieira and state secretaries linked to energy and economic development agendas.

Tudo ótimo, mas seria muito melhor se a Petrobrás readquirisse seus postos de gasolina e voltasse a vender combustível mais barato e reencampace suas refinarias e seus oleodutos
