Petrobras Makes History in Sports: Company Invests Millions in the Largest Sponsorship of All Time, Marking a New Era for Brazilian Soccer
Petrobras has just announced the largest sponsorship in the history of women’s soccer in São Paulo, signing a huge agreement with the São Paulo Football Federation (FPF). This strategic investment marks the entry of the oil and gas giant into the world of football, valid until the end of 2024.
How Much Petrobras Will Invest in Football
The agreement covers all competitions and events related to women’s football, including the Women’s Paulistão, the Women’s Copinha, and the Copa Paulista. Right from the start, the clubs participating in the current edition of the Women’s Paulistão will receive a total bonus of R$ 1 million, raising the total prize money to R$ 4.23 million.
According to Clarice Coppetti, Petrobras’ Director of Corporate Affairs, the sponsorship of women’s football is not just an investment in sports but also a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

“Petrobras has resumed strong investments in sports and culture in Brazil. Investing in women’s football is symbolic for us, as it goes beyond sports. We want Petrobras to become a major sponsor of women’s football in Brazil, a sport that is no longer just a promise, but a consolidated reality“, said Coppetti.
In addition to securing the sponsorship, Petrobras acquired the naming rights for several competitions and will have its brand featured in arenas, digital platforms, and broadcasts made by FPF TV. The agreement also includes special actions and training programs, directly impacting the organization and growth of women’s competitions.
Alessandra Teixeira, Petrobras Sponsorship Manager, emphasized that women’s football was chosen as a reference sport for the company starting in 2024, as part of a broader sponsorship strategy.
“We aim to promote competitions, encourage the development of new athletes and professional growth, as well as implement actions to combat prejudice and promote women’s empowerment. This project with the São Paulo Federation is the first delivery of this strategy“, explained Teixeira.

Oil and Gas Giant Believes in Sports
With this investment, several female competitions and festivals will have the Petrobras name associated with them. Among them are the Paulista Petrobras Women’s Football Under-20 and Under-17, the Petrobras Paulistana Women’s Football Cup, the Petrobras Women’s Football Festival Under-12 and Under-14, and the Petrobras Caravan for Women’s Football Development.
The company will also support training courses, such as the Women’s Leadership program, promoted by the FPF in partnership with La Liga from Spain, in addition to projects aimed at physical education teachers in public schools.
Reinaldo Carneiro Bastos, president of the São Paulo Football Federation, celebrated the partnership and emphasized the importance of this historic agreement. “Petrobras is the largest company in Brazil, with a successful trajectory that fills all Brazilians with pride. It has always participated in supporting and promoting sports, and it is a historic moment for the FPF and women’s football to have this partnership“, said Bastos.
The sponsorship of Petrobras for women’s football not only reinforces the importance of the sport in Brazil but also expands the company’s commitment to the social and economic development of the country.
Through this movement, Petrobras seeks not only to support sports competitions but also to promote values of inclusion, diversity, and training, creating opportunities for thousands of women athletes across the country.
