The stoppage of five oil rigs that work in the Operational Unit (OU) of Petrobras in Bahia, will initially result in the dismissal of 350 oil workers. New oil tankers contaminated by the coronavirus in the Campos Basin, this time on the P-26 in Macaé.

In addition to the oil fields in Bahia, Petrobras also shut down the activities of four Braserv rigs in Sergipe, causing the dismissal of 200 workers.

According to the Oil Workers Union of Bahia (Sindipetro-BA), Petrobras refused to negotiate with the entity, which made several attempts to open a dialogue to present proposals that could minimize the impacts caused by the stoppage of these rigs, mainly in terms of regards layoffs.

According to Radiovaldo Costa, Sindipetro's communication director, Petrobras' management acts irresponsibly and, instead of implementing public policies to alleviate the health emergency caused by the new coronavirus, which has also been contributing to the worsening of the economic crisis, fires more workers and workers.

Last Friday (24), the four rigs (SPTS) from the company Braserv (SPTS 143, 145, 153 and 154) and one from perbs (SPT 19).

With that, officially, the direction of Petrobras starts the stoppage of the activities of the UO-BA. According to the state company, the stoppage of five of the 20 rigs in operation in Bahia is an initial measure that will be deepened, reaching, in the foreground, the onshore fields of Água Grande, Dom João, Candeias and Rio Pojuca.

In contract, Petrobras has the right to stop oil rigs at any time as long as it communicates to the company 30 days in advance, which did not happen, since the notice was not even 24 hours old, said the entity.
