Artificial Intelligence Tool Will Allow Cost Reduction and Project Acceleration at Petrobras, Bringing Gains to the Strategic Program PROD100
Petrobras reported in a relevant fact yesterday (03/03) that it developed an innovative platform, named Analogs Panel, for data analysis, aimed at mapping the production potential of newly acquired areas by the company and portions of fields under development.

The new tool integrates a large volume of data obtained from oil reservoirs, enabling comparative analyses and information sharing.
The “Analogs Panel” aims to develop the best reservoir models already constructed in the industry in order to increase reserves, accelerate processes, reduce risks and costs associated with data acquisition, and anticipate project implementation.

According to the report, CÉOS uses agile methodologies in the development of solutions and digital technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence, to address the problems associated with reservoir modeling, some of which represent the limits of knowledge. CÉOS, in Greek mythology, is the titan of intelligence and knowledge.
Strategic Program PROD1000 – Petrobras
CÉOS will accelerate reservoir processes, bringing gains to the strategic program PROD1000 by speeding up project implementation. PROD 1000 aims to reduce the time between commercialization declaration and first oil to one thousand days. There is synergy between them, as they contribute to solving risk factors and sizing reservoir models. Both are the result of intensive use of new technologies in process and operations optimization, which increases efficiency and reduces costs, making projects more resilient to market and industry fluctuations.
The result of the first deliveries was an 80% reduction in the time of the data analysis and consumption stage for geological reservoir modeling, contributing to the anticipation of the production phase. By expanding and speeding up the data offer about the fields, the company increases the assertiveness of decisions, with significant gains for the implementation and cost-effectiveness of production systems.
Initially, the gains refer to information sharing. Thousands of data about reservoir dynamics are acquired daily, and the proposal is to allow, through Artificial Intelligence, that they are made available and analyzed in real-time. This means giving geologists and geophysicists access to all existing information about the reservoirs mapped by the company. Thus, when starting to analyze data from a newly acquired area, the specialist, through search, sees which Petrobras fields have similar characteristics, what solutions were adopted, and the lessons learned.
Analogs Panel – Artificial Intelligence
The Analogs Panel also allows the analysis of information to be enhanced with visual and statistical tools for data consultation and exploration of reservoirs. Through Artificial Intelligence algorithms, the tool suggests the best parameters to be incorporated into the geologist’s analysis. The idea is to capture patterns from large and complex data and, through the tool, process this volume of information as well as deliver results in a faster and more accurate manner, extracting the maximum potential from the data.
Petrobras is also developing the strategic program EXP100, which aims to eliminate the need for drilling exploratory wells to confirm oil discoveries. The CÉOS and EXP100 programs have great synergy in the use of artificial intelligence to enhance the application of geoscientific data in E&P projects, providing disruptive tools to geophysicists, geologists, and reservoir engineers, and increasing value generation for the company.
