Thanks to the Acquisition of a Stake in Petrobras’ Field, Petronas Today is the 5th Largest Oil and Gas Producer in the Country
Considering the operated production and as a partner, Petronas is currently the fifth largest producer of oil and natural gas in Brazil. The amount produced by the company was 55.29 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day in December 2019, according to the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP). Thanks to the acquisition of a stake in Petrobras’ fields, Tartaruga Verde and Espadarte, in the Campos Basin, Petronas managed to stand out among many other companies. At the end of 2019, the ANP approved the transfer of 50% of Petrobras’ rights over the assets to the Malaysian company.

Additionally, according to the ANP’s release of the ranking of the 20 companies with the highest partnered production in December 2019, Petronas appears after Petrobras (ranking leader with 2.9 thousand boe/d), Shell, Petrogal, and Repsol. In fifth place, the company achieves a result of 55,290 boe/d.
Equinor (51.3 thousand boe/d), Eneva (45.5), Shell (40.77), and Total (34.6) follow in the list. Other recognized companies are also on the list, such as Enauta, Petro Rio, CNODC, Potiguar, and others.
The report released by the ANP regarding the month of December also showed that the State of Rio de Janeiro increased its share in the country’s total production.
