With BV ESG 360, the Company Is Recognized for Its Actions and Good Practices in Social Responsibility, Environment, and Corporate Governance
Petronect, a subsidiary of Petrobras that operates in the information technology market for the Oil and Gas sector, and whose partners are Petrobras, Accenture, and SAP, has just received the BV ESG 360 certification from Bureau Veritas, the world leader in Testing, Inspection, and Certification. The company is the first in the Petrobras system to receive recognition for its actions and good practices in Social Responsibility, Environment, and Corporate Governance (from the English acronym ESG – Environmental, Social, and Governance).
The criteria adopted by Bureau Veritas in the BV ESG 360 certification of Petronect are aligned with ABNT PR 2030, which presents guidelines and recommended practices in ESG management for Brazilian companies. Bureau Veritas specialists verified essential aspects of Petronect’s management, such as actions and projects in eco-efficiency, supply chain, labor relations, and engagement with the local community. The company received an Engaged classification, indicating a high level of maturity, with participatory management and practices and high stakeholder involvement.
To achieve certification, Petronect created an ESG Committee comprised of 13 of its employees from the areas of Social Responsibility and Marketing, Administration, Relationships, Legal, Governance, Contracts, and Human Resources. This Committee was responsible for mapping actions and presenting results to Bureau Veritas for accurate pre-certification analysis.

Petronect also received support from Âmbar Jr. Environmental Consulting, an organization linked to the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), one of the most renowned higher education institutions in Brazil, to assist the company in constructing and inventorying actions to reduce the impact of its operations on the environment.
“The ESG certification is a symbol of our history. It highlights our corporate commitment to the community and the world. Petronect has evolved over these 20 years with consistent practices that adhere to ESG pillars. Seeing them materialized with BV ESG 360 is a way for us to unite the agents of our value chain around an ideal, driving a way of doing business that we consider more in line with our times,” says Petronect’s president, Marcelo de Carvalho Bonniard.
“The BV ESG 360 certification evaluates all levels of the company’s sustainable scale, as well as the implementation of the strategic vision, with clear objectives and well-defined targets, to ensure greater transparency and trust in the market. We are very happy to be part of this journey of Petronect, our long-term partner, and to contribute to its continuous evolution in the ESG agenda,” says Andressa Lisboa, Director of Certification and Auditing at Bureau Veritas.
Governance and Social Responsibility
With 20 years of operation in the market, Petronect enables more than R$ 220 billion in business to be transacted through its Petronect Business Portal, with Petrobras as its main client. And to maintain business sustainability, complying with Law 13.303/16, Corporate Governance has maintained practices, rules, and processes aimed at ensuring its efficient and transparent management since its foundation.
In addition to a strong Code of Ethics, compliance rules, and LGPD certification, the company recently signed the Corporate Commitment to Integrity and Against Corruption, from Grupo Ethos. By taking this commitment, the company sought to reinforce its corporate values with employees, clients, and society, a relevant step to experience ESG practices benefiting the entire value chain, including its own operations.
For actions focused on Socio-Environmental Responsibility, two years ago, Petronect created the Reconect Program, a commitment to good environmental, social, and corporate governance practices aligned with market requirements and with the understanding that the company integrates into society and the environment. The Program started focusing on two fronts, Solidarity and Volunteer, allowing partnerships with institutions that support society, promoting donations and initiatives in favor of vulnerable people.
In 2022, the company received the VoL Award, organized by Instituto Dadivar, for Best Volunteer Management in Companies, created to enhance and bring intelligent solutions to the volunteer cause in Brazil and Latin America.
More recently, with its education branch, Capacita, Reconect began providing support in the professional training of young apprentices served by the São Martinho Association, in different areas of corporate management, such as communication, quality, management, contracts, soft skills, data security, among others.
Environmental Responsibility
Since 2003, by using the Petronect Portal for purchasing activities, Petronect’s main client, Petrobras, has saved an average of 1.1 tons of paper. This means that 17,000 trees, 34 million liters of water, 1.7 million KWH of energy and 701 tons of CO2 were not consumed in the process.
In 2022, the company conducted its first greenhouse gas inventory, following GHG Protocol guidelines, and as a result, in the Greenhouse Gas Neutralization Report, it will plant the equivalent of 286 trees in partnership with Projeto Arvoredo, to neutralize the impact caused by its operations. Details of the Report can be seen on the company’s page dedicated entirely to sustainability.

“Reconect was born from a special action on Children’s Day, today our initiative has gained new airs, new jobs, new volunteers, and, mainly, new beneficiaries. We have become a Program of Socio-Environmental Responsibility because we understand our responsibility in the world. The greatest recognition that we are on the right path came with the VoL Award in 2022. We were recognized by a reference, which encourages us to go further,” concludes Relationship and Marketing Director, Samuel Souza, leader in the ESG certification initiative at the company.
