PetroReconcavo Invests to Transform the Baiano Energy Market
PetroReconcavo, one of the largest independent oil and gas producers in land areas in Brazil, is allocating R$ 340 million, about US$ 60 million, to build a new Natural Gas Processing Unit (UPGN) in Pojuca, Bahia. This investment reinforces its presence in the region, with operations expected to begin in the third quarter of 2027.
Greater Autonomy and Infrastructure with Historic Investment
This project is PetroReconcavo’s largest individual investment, a decision that will expand its production capacity. The new Miranga UPGN will have an initial capacity to process 950,000 cubic meters of gas per day, and can also expand to 1.5 million, which strengthens its position in the midstream segment and therefore reduces reliance on third parties.
Benefits for the Local Economy and More Jobs
The Miranga UPGN, when established in Pojuca, will generate approximately 400 direct jobs during its construction, which will certainly boost the local economy. Furthermore, the plant is expected to attract new businesses and services to the region, reaffirming PetroReconcavo’s commitment to the economic development of Bahia.

This move complements the UTG São Roque, which has been in operation since August and already processes 400,000 cubic meters of gas per day.
Commitment to Sustainability and Clean Energy
With a plant that uses natural gas – a cleaner energy source than other fossil fuels – PetroReconcavo enhances its contribution to a more sustainable sector. The new unit also meets the growing demand, promoting an efficient and less polluting energy matrix.
Consolidated Leadership in the Northeast Gas Market
PetroReconcavo is currently the leader in the natural gas sector in the Northeast, with contracts with major distributors such as Bahiagás, Potigás, Sergas, and Copergás. These partnerships, therefore, reinforce its commitment to expanding the energy infrastructure of the region and broadly serving the local market.
