Piauí Inaugurated Its First Electric Vehicle Charging Station, Which Already Includes 10 Bicycles for Residents’ Leisure and an Electric Car for Patrolling the Region
The state of Piauí has just received its first electric vehicle charging station, located at Parque da Cidadania in Teresina. The location will also feature 10 bicycles that people can use to ride for one hour within the leisure area. The charging station will be operational from 5:30 AM to 9:30 PM, that is, during the park’s operating hours and completely free of charge.
Electric Cars Will Be Donated for Patrolling the State
The initiative came from a partnership between Equatorial Piauí and the Municipal Secretary of the Environment through the research and development program of the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel). The first electric vehicle charging station was inaugurated this Wednesday (16), and in addition to the bicycles, an electric car will be donated to the municipal government to ensure security patrols while families benefit from the leisure area using the electric bicycles.
According to the secretary, Elisabeth Sá, it is necessary to think increasingly about initiatives that reduce impacts on the environment and to consider strategies and projects that can make Piauí a more sustainable state. Elizabeth states that the inauguration of the electric vehicle charging station will be essential for the consolidation of the environmental policy in the city.

Equatorial Piauí Responds About the Inauguration of the Charging Station
According to Lener Jayme, president of Equatorial Piauí, the aim of this electric mobility project is to contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions in the environment, using solar energy as a clean and renewable power source. The executive also states that the intent is to promote the use of renewable energy and encourage the reduction of impacts generated by fossil fuels on the environment.
The arrival of the electric vehicle charging station in Piauí will enable the encouragement and assessment of the use of these transports by the community. Through the inauguration, the Sun Route will be established, which is nothing more than a route of chargers between São Luís and Teresina, allowing mobility from one state to another using electric vehicles.
How to Use the Free Electric Bicycles Available at Parque da Cidadania?
The bicycles provided by the project can only be used in Parque da Cidadania, and the user must download the application “E+ Electric Mobility” on their phone and register including a credit card that serves as a guarantee for the return of the bicycle.
The application is completely secure, and after using the bicycle, it must be returned at the charging station. It is worth mentioning that during business hours, there will be an instructor available to clarify any questions from the public.
The donated electric car has an autonomy of 250 km and can be charged in just 3 hours. According to Equatorial, the vehicle consumes 52 kwh of energy and that, at the conventional tariff of the State, including charges, federal and state taxes, would cost about R$ 60 to fully charge the vehicle. If it were a regular gas vehicle, the cost to fill the tank would rise to R$ 310.
