A RAM Presents Its New Electric Pickup, The 1500 Ramcharger, With A Bold Promise Of Leadership In The Market. This Robust Vehicle Offers An Impressive Power Of 654 Horsepower And Promises A Range Greater Than 1,000 Kilometers.
A RAM officially revealed the new RAM 1500 Ramcharger. Stellantis decided to stand out by differentiating itself from the rest of the industry and offering a long-range electric pickup, or EREV, with range extender, an electric vehicle that is not zero emission while driving.
RAM 1500 Ramcharger Pickup Delivers Up To 654 Horsepower
In the official statement, Stellantis informs that the pickup has a unlimited battery electric range. And the powertrain configuration is similar to what we’ve seen with the BMW i3 in the Range Extender version; however, here the specifications are quite advanced.
The front electric drive module (EDM), as RAM calls it, delivers 250 kW (335 horsepower) and the rear adds another 238 kW (319 horsepower) to the mix for a combined power of 654 horsepower and 85 kgfm of torque, allowing acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds.

While the battery electric version of the RAM 1500 Ramcharger comes with a battery option of 168 or 229 kWh, the range extender variant requires a smaller battery of 92 kWh. When this is empty, or the driver wants to save energy for later, a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 is activated.
This provides the electric pickup with 130 kW of electricity through a generator. The electricity can also be used to provide more power to the propulsion system than the battery can supply under more intense usage conditions.
Electric Pickup Delivers Range Of 1,110 Km With Only One Charge
However, the V6 engine cannot move the wheels directly. The combustion engine has been adapted for the task of driving the generator. This is installed in a particularly compact way so that the front EDM still fits under the hood.
The generator is also mounted directly on the engine. The battery can be charged with up to 145 kW at a 400 volts DC charging point, enough to add 50 miles of range in 10 minutes.
According to Stellantis, the declared range of the RAM 1500 Ramcharger is up to 690 miles, which is no less than 1,110 km. This likely refers to the sum of the battery range and the range of the range extender. To give you an idea, the battery electric pickup from the manufacturer offers a range of 500 km with the large battery, both, of course, according to the American EPA standard.
RAM 1500 Ramcharger Can Tow Up To 6.4 Tons
Based on the STLA-Frame platform, the electric pickup has a multilink rear suspension and air suspension as a standard item. This last one offers five different driving modes: entry/exit, normal, aero, off-road 1, and off-road 2.
There is automatic wheel disconnection on the front axle, allowing the front wheels to rotate freely under certain conditions, thus maximizing efficiency. The second EDM is positioned on the rear axle and features an electronically locking rear axle differential. The maximum towing capacity is 6.4 tons, and the payload is up to 1.2 tons.
The electric pickup is ready for bidirectional charging. This means that another electric car can be charged with up to 7.2 kW or electricity can be sent to the grid or other external devices. The manufacturer has not yet released prices, versions, or launch dates, but has already opened reservations for the electric pickup with range extender.
