Aiming for the growth of its offshore operations in the coming years, Perenco Brasil announced the departure of the FSO Pargo platform from Dubai.

Once anchored 2.8 km from the Pargo platform, the FSO will be essential for the expansion of Perenco Brasil’s offshore performance.
The vessel was built in 2004 as part of a large project, currently having a storage capacity of 750,000 barrels.
The conversion work of the FSO began in September 2021 at the DryDocks World shipyard in Dubai, aiming to extend its useful life by 20 years.
Additionally, operations were carried out to adapt the FSO platform to Brazilian offshore market standards, as anticipated by Perenco Brasil.
Thus, an external turret for the anchoring system, a helipad, and a measurement skid were installed on the vessel.
The Pargo Pole currently comprises the Pargo, Carapeba, and Vermelho fields, with a production of approximately 12,000 barrels of oil per day. Despite these impressive numbers, Perenco Brasil still intends to expand these figures over the coming years.
It has been investing its resources in the revitalization of productions, acquisition of new equipment, and improvement of the infrastructure of the pole.
With the arrival and start of operations with the FSO Pargo platform, the company will be able to take new directions in production.
Company Prepares for Strong Investments in the Infrastructure of the Pargo Pole After the Arrival of the FSO Pargo Platform
After the vessel’s arrival in the waters of the Basin of Campos, Perenco Brasil intends to invest heavily in new facilities for fuel production.
Thus, it is preparing for the installation in January of two new pipelines connecting the Carapeba and Vermelho fields to the Pargo platform.
Combining this project with future investments in the Basin of Campos, the company expects to reach a production of 15,000 barrels per day by the end of 2023.
“We are pleased to confirm the departure of the FSO from the shipyard, which is a key step in the $400 million Development Plan for the Pargo Pole by Perenco Brasil. Perenco’s technical expertise in the successful operation of mature fields is also demonstrated in the concessions of the Pargo Pole, where we have already completed three years of safe operations with positive results,” highlighted Perenco Brasil’s General Director, Yves Postec.
The arrival of the FSO Pargo platform in the waters of the Basin of Campos marks just one more step in Perenco Brasil’s project for the region.
