With Curved AMOLED Display, IP68 Protection, and a New MediaTek Processor, the POCO X7 5G Arrives with Top-End Specifications. But Does the Design Change and Slower Charging Make It a Good Choice for You?

The POCO X line has always been synonymous with excellent cost-benefit, and the launch of the POCO X7 5G was one of the most anticipated by Xiaomi fans. The model comes with the bold promise of bringing flagship features to the mid-range segment, highlighted by the unprecedented IP68 certification, which guarantees resistance against water and dust, a rare feature in this category.

However, the device also brings controversial changes, such as a design that divides opinions and a surprising downgrade in charging speed. Do the new features compensate for the sacrifices made by the brand? We analyze the technical specifications and highlights of the POCO X7 5G in detail to help you find out if it is the ideal smartphone for your needs.

Design and Display: Luxury, Curves, and Water Resistance

POCO X7 5G features a Curved AMOLED Display, IP68, and a New MediaTek Chip for Less Than 2 Thousand Reais

The design of the POCO X7 5G is, at the very least, striking. The black version with yellow/golden details and a vegan leather back bets on a luxurious look that may please those looking to stand out. The big news, however, is the IP68 certification, which finally brings the peace of mind of a device protected against immersion in fresh water.

The display is another highlight. It is a 6.67-inch AMOLED panel with 1.5K resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and curved edges, features that give the device a premium appearance. The maximum brightness of 3,000 nits and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection ensure excellent visibility in sunlight and greater resistance against scratches and drops.

Performance and Battery: New Chip and a Step Back

The heart of the POCO X7 5G is the new MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Ultra processor, which offers solid performance for daily use and even for gaming. Although it is not a top-tier gaming smartphone, it can run demanding titles with adjusted graphics. The device is available in versions with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.

The 5,100 mAh battery provides good autonomy, but it is in charging that we find Xiaomi’s most controversial decision. The new model supports only 45W of power, a significant downgrade from the 67W of the previous generation. Although 45W is still a respectable speed, the change represents a step back in an aspect that has always been a differentiator for the line.

Camera Setup: Balance with Good Main Sensor

The POCO X7 5G is equipped with a triple rear camera setup, led by a 50 MP main sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS). This sensor is the standout of the set, capable of delivering sharp photos with good colors, especially during the day.

It is accompanied by an 8 MP ultra-wide lens for photos with a wider field of view, and a 2 MP macro camera, which, like many mid-rangers, has quite limited utility. The 20 MP front camera does a good job for selfies and video calls. In terms of video, the device can record in 4K resolution at 30 frames per second with the main camera.

Who Is the POCO X7 5G For?

YouTube Video

The POCO X7 5G is a very capable mid-range smartphone that stands out for bringing premium features like the high-quality curved AMOLED display and, above all, the IP68 protection. It is ideal for those looking for a sophisticated-looking device, an excellent screen for media consumption, and the security of a water-resistant phone.

However, the decision to reduce the charging speed may frustrate long-time users of the brand. Its extravagant design may also not appeal to everyone. In the end, the POCO X7 5G is a great option, costing between R$1,600 and R$2,500. If it remains competitive, its qualities will certainly outweigh its weaknesses.

And you, what do you think of the new POCO X7 5G? Do you believe that water protection compensates for the slower charger? Leave your opinion in the comments!

Cara esse downgrade da bateria quebrou as pernas , tenho o x6 e faz o menor sentido esses 45W . 67w é excelente para carregar nas pressas. Baita vacilo da Xiaomi fazer isso
