R$ 60 Million Bridge Over The Parati River In Araquari Plans For 488 Meters Of Extension, Links Port Alegre Neighborhood To The Center Via The Rio Do Morro Highway, Reducing The Route From 17 Kilometers To 7 Minutes And Still Awaits Bidding, Funding And Official Authorizations From The Navy And The SPU To Begin
The R$ 60 million bridge in Araquari, in northern Santa Catarina, gained momentum in 2025 with decrees 321/2025 and 324/2025, which declared land near the future head of the structure over the Parati River to be of public utility. These acts from the Planning Department formally recognize the need for the work as public interest service.
Even with this formal step, the project is still in the fundraising phase with state and federal governments, depends on authorizations from the Navy and the SPU and still has no defined date for bidding launch or for the actual start of bridge construction.
Current Situation Of The R$ 60 Million Bridge In Araquari

In Araquari, in northern Santa Catarina, the R$ 60 million bridge is treated by the city hall as an infrastructural work for the city.

Israel, Greece, and Cyprus signed an agreement in 2020 to transport gas from the Mediterranean to Europe via a 1,872 km pipeline, but Turkey claimed sovereignty over part of the maritime route, and the project never materialized.
The project plans a direct connection over the Parati River between the Port Alegre neighborhood and the center, towards the Rio Do Morro highway, which provides access to Joinville.
According to the municipal administration, the project is in the funding phase with state and federal governments, a decisive stage for the work to move forward.
Without this financial confirmation, there is no closed schedule for the construction site or an official completion forecast.
One of the most concrete advancements was the publication of decrees 321/2025 and 324/2025 by the Planning Department, which declared the lands located near the head of the future bridge to be of public utility.
In practice, this paves the way for necessary expropriations and land adjustments to enable the planned route in the executive project.
Meanwhile, the city hall maintains discussions with the Brazilian Navy and the SPU (Superintendence of Union Assets) to meet all legal requirements applicable to works over bodies of water and areas under federal jurisdiction.
Without these opinions and formal authorizations, the R$ 60 million bridge cannot have construction begun.
What The New Bridge Over The Parati River Will Be Like
The R$ 60 million bridge construction is estimated based on a project that plans for 488 meters of extension over the Parati River.
The infrastructure has been designed to support the daily flow of light and heavy vehicles, integrating urban traffic in Araquari with the regional production routing.
The total intervention area of the project is 70,968 square meters, including accesses, heads, approach road system and technical areas necessary for drainage, safety, and maintenance.
This set of interventions goes far beyond the crossing itself and reorganizes a strategic stretch of the municipality.
According to the city hall, the intention is for the R$ 60 million bridge to function as a new circulation axis for residents, workers, and students, reducing reliance on longer and more congested routes.
The structure was conceived to serve both daily demands of the population and the needs of the productive sector.
Connection Between Port Alegre Neighborhood, Center, And The Rio Do Morro Highway
Today, those leaving the Port Alegre neighborhood towards the center of Araquari travel about 17 kilometers, on a route that takes approximately 40 minutes.
The current path is longer and includes stretches that were not planned for the intense flow of cargo and passenger transport vehicles that the city has begun to register.
With the new R$ 60 million bridge, the connection will be direct. The project plans accesses between Rocha Coutinho Street and Porto Alegre Road, creating a structured connection between the Port Alegre neighborhood and the city center.
This route will be connected to the Rio Do Morro highway, an important corridor for those heading towards Joinville.
The city hall’s expectation is that, once the work is completed, the travel time from Port Alegre neighborhood to the center will drop from 40 to just 7 minutes, a drastic change in the routine of those who need to commute daily for work, study, or access public services.
This reorganization of the route should also alleviate historical mobility bottlenecks in Araquari, redistributing the flow of vehicles and providing safer and faster alternatives for drivers and pedestrians.
The bridge thus fits into a broader strategy for improving urban infrastructure and regional connectivity.
Time And Money Savings With The R$ 60 Million Bridge
In addition to the direct impact on travel time, the municipal administration projects that the R$ 60 million bridge will bring an annual savings of R$ 32 million.
This figure considers, mainly, the reduction of logistics costs for companies operating in the municipality and the region, thanks to the shorter and more efficient route.
For the productive sector, fewer kilometers traveled mean lower spending on fuel, fleet maintenance, tolls, and hours spent in traffic.
The bridge should also facilitate the daily transportation of workers and students, reducing delays and making company operations more predictable.
In the daily life of the population, the time savings tend to be the most visible aspect. Transforming a 40-minute trip into just a 7-minute commute means more hours available for family, leisure, and studies, as well as less wear and tear from long commutes and traffic.
Despite all these projected benefits, the future of the R$ 60 million bridge still depends on external decisions: the release of funds by state and federal governments and the issuance of authorizations from the Navy and the SPU. Only after these stages will it be possible to launch the bidding and effectively hire the company responsible for the construction.
And you, do you think the R$ 60 million bridge should be a priority in Araquari or should the investment be directed towards other works in the city?
