Away From The Spotlight And The Cameras, Businessman Eike Batista Now Gives The Image Of A Discreet Person And Does Not Reveal His Current Source Of Income
After attempts, between 2018 and 2019, at a career as an entrepreneurship influencer, testing niches as a speaker, consultant, and YouTuber, businessman Eike Batista has appeared in the media again. It has been three years, since August 2019, that Eike Batista has stayed away from social media and the spotlight, despite having 1.1 million followers on Twitter.
The start of his return to the media aligns with his second arrest, which lasted only one day. Over the years, the businessman has been working hard to free himself from his “astral hell” that depleted his fortune, being considered in 2012, the seventh richest person in the world on Forbes’ global list.
Currently, with his assets frozen, his entire business fortune reduced to a few small businesses and great mystery regarding his current sources of income, Eike Batista no longer enjoys the glamour he once had, but he does not seem to be in need, working and living in the same mansion as always in Rio de Janeiro.

Despite taking a break from social media, the businessman has returned to the economic media more frequently this year, due to the drama that has become the bankruptcy process of MMX, the mining company of Group X. Starting this Thursday, the 22nd, the businessman will return to showbiz.
His biopic will hit theaters across Brazil, titled: Eike Batista: All Or Nothing. The film features actor Nelson Freitas as Eike and is based on the screenplay from journalist Malu Gaspar’s book, which discusses the rise and fall of Eike Batista’s empire. Check out the trailer for the movie below:
Business And Income
Since 2021, the businessman has been keeping in touch with those involved in his bankruptcy process, mainly due to the sale of Anglo’s bonds. With his inclination for business, Eike is looking for investors interested in buying the debentures, making contacts with those involved in the process to convince them that the debentures have been offered at a plausible price, according to sources who spoke on condition of anonymity.
Eike Batista even traveled to Belo Horizonte last month, to the headquarters of the Minas Gerais Court of Justice (TJ-MG) where one of the two bankruptcy processes of the mining company is taking place. He attended the court hearing to open envelopes with bids in the auction of Anglo’s bonds, his third attempt to sell the papers in the MMX bankruptcy process.
Alongside his lawyers, the businessman witnessed yet another failure. Soon after, the 1st Business Court of Belo Horizonte of TJ-MG established a fourth attempt to sell the debentures and received a proposal from BTG Pactual bank. Eike Batista himself and Argenta Securities (the brokerage that made one of the proposals throughout the four transfer attempts) appealed the decision.
Eike’s “Coach” Career
During one of his attempts to rise again as a consultant and “influencer,” between 2018 and August 2019, Eike Batista was publishing motivational videos, giving interviews, and stating that he had more than ten business projects in the works.
“I will give talks, but I have already designed more than ten companies worth US$ 1 billion. I designed my next ten,” commented Eike Batista to Estadão in July 2019, when he appeared at an entrepreneurship event in Florianópolis (SC).
“They are in the mining area, where I have always succeeded, not only in Brazil but also in Chile and the United States. I am working in the area of nanotechnology, chemistry, and materials, such as graphene, which is the material of the future,” the businessman concluded.
