The statement was issued by Bartolomeu Lisandro Airport in Campos on Friday morning (13). According to the airport, a passenger who was about to board arrived at the location in a van with symptoms similar to those caused by the new coronavirus, identified by employees of the company for which he works.

For everyone’s safety, the employee showing symptoms was isolated in a room. Nine other passengers who had contact with him in the van and in the boarding and briefing areas were kept in a separate part of the airport.

According to the airport, three employees from a subcontracted company and the 10 passengers were taken to a private hospital by the airline.

As a precaution, to prevent any form of contagion, should any of the passengers be infected with coronavirus, the airport sanitized the areas where these passengers and employees had been.

The company reported that it has been providing hand sanitizer at various points in the passenger terminal and is preparing informative posters about the disease provided by the Municipal Health Department.

North Fluminense Oil Workers’ Union (Sindipetro NF)

According to Sindipetro, the flight scheduled for 8 AM from Campos Airport would transport oil workers to a Shell platform. The worker suspected of coronavirus infection was from the city of Volta Redonda.

According to the entity’s statement, “Shell workers are not represented by Sindipetro-NF, which complicates the investigation of the case by the entity. The union, however, confirmed with sources from Petrobras and airport operations the veracity of the occurrence.

The Sindipetro also stated that preventive measures are being taken during the boarding of oil workers to the platforms. At the airports, all Petrobras employees undergo temperature checks and answer a questionnaire about their health conditions and routines in the past few days — informing, for example, whether they traveled anywhere.
