The suspicion is that the employee was infected during a trip abroad during his vacation. According to Petrobras, the disease was diagnosed before the employee resumed his work activities.
Petrobras informs that the employee is in good health and is receiving all necessary medical support at home provided by Petrobras teams.
The company also reports that the employee had not been on company premises after being diagnosed with the virus, thus eliminating any possibility of contamination.
In order to protect the health of its employees, Petrobras has temporarily suspended all business trips within Brazil and abroad, except for a few deemed priority.
To maintain productivity and ensure work is up-to-date, the state-owned company has adopted a home office work system for at least seven days for all employees who returned from a trip abroad, whether for work or vacation.
For employees who traveled to countries considered high-risk, they will work from home for fourteen days.
There were thirty-seven Petrobras employees in China, but as a safety measure, the company expedited their return. The company states that none of them exhibited symptoms of the coronavirus after undergoing a quarantine period.
Rafael Grisolia, president of Petrobras Distribuidora, states that it is still too early to identify the impacts caused by the coronavirus pandemic on the company’s business.
BR Distribuidora has intensified the operation of its trading area to take advantage of potential opportunities in product acquisition, the executive stated.
