Water activities near the Port of Imbetiba, in Macaé, are prohibited to avoid accidents in the midst of Petrobras operations

With this new measure, Petrobras will increase cargo handling in the Port of Macaé and will also begin to handle the anchoring activities of the new platforms.

At the beginning of this month of September (01/09/2020), the market leader Petrobras informed that it will start working in the Port of imbetiba with vessels of up to eight meters in draft. By modifying this vehicle parameter at the Port of Macaé, Petrobras expands business opportunities, thus increasing the number of cargo handling and also the number of ships docked.

Petrobras placed notices to avoid accidents at the Port of Macaé

In order to avoid possible accidents, shortly after announcing that the size of the berthed ships will be larger in the Port of Macaé, Petrobras began to distribute information materials in the surroundings, prohibiting the practice of water activities near the access channel of the Port of Imbetiba.

It is worth mentioning that in order to minimize possible impacts in case of emergency situations, Petrobras makes its response plans more agile and effective. They have a team of specialized professionals, 12 Environmental Defense Centers, 12 Advanced Bases and Emergency Response Centers, distributed throughout Brazil. In addition to speedboats, boats, collection equipment and containment barriers, the Environmental Defense Centers have communication equipment and vehicles that can be quickly moved by road or air.

About the Port of Imbetiba

The Port of Imbetiba in Macaé, which together with the Port of Itajaí, SC provided support for logistical structuring and drilling and drilling work, then production at the start of operations in the Santos Basin, today serves basically the Campos Basin and part of the Basin of the Holy Spirit.

In terms of supply, the Port of Imbetiba has a storage capacity of 4,6 m³ of diesel and 6 m³ of water and has an average monthly movement of around 30 tons of cargo for shipment, and another 20 tons for landing.
