Açu Petróleo Registers Record Movement at Its Terminal in Açu Port Operating for Major Oil Companies in Brazil
Operations at Açu Port continue to grow, and Açu Petróleo, a partnership of Grupo Prumo with the German Oiltanking, has just recorded, in 2019, a record movement at its terminal in the Port of São João da Barra, in Rio de Janeiro.
Operating for the major oil companies active in Brazil, Açu Petróleo has already moved more than 53 million barrels this year, which is 13 million more than the total recorded in 2018, which was 40 million barrels. It is worth noting that Petrogal renewed its contract and will operate at Açu Port until 2023.
The fact that it operates with all exporters and the renewal of the contract with Petrogal will help the company close the year with even bigger numbers.
According to Victor Snabaitis Bomfim, CEO of Açu Petróleo, “We have an efficient and modern terminal that enables a safe, quick operation with lower global costs for our clients. And, more and more, we see that these differentiators are essential in oil companies’ decision-making.”

Açu Petróleo estimates to reach 65 million barrels of oil moved by the end of 2019, and besides the renewal of the contract with the Portuguese oil company Petrogal, it also had the Spanish Repsol moving around 1 million barrels produced at the Sapinhoá Fields (Santos Basin).
The Terminal
Located in a privileged area, the Açu Petróleo Terminal has a draft of 25 meters and a licensed capacity to handle up to 1.2 million barrels of oil per day, making it the only private terminal in the country capable of operating with the largest ships in the world, of the VLCC (Very Large Crude Carrier) class.
The licensed capacity of the Açu Petróleo Terminal is to handle up to 1.2 million barrels of oil per day, but the company wants to expand its pipeline network and tank farm to meet the demand for oil exports, which could reach almost 3 million barrels per day.
