The 1,000 Vacancies in Free Civil Construction Courses Offered by the City of Rio Include Classes in the Morning, Afternoon, and Night in Partnership with Senai RJ, with Training for Bricklayer, Welder, and Systems Installer

The City of Rio de Janeiro, through the Municipal Secretariat of Labor and Income (SMTE), has opened over 1,000 vacancies in free civil construction courses, in partnership with Senai RJ, for those seeking professional qualifications in one of the fastest growing sectors in the city. Classes will be offered in the morning, afternoon, and night, catering to different profiles of students and workers.

The courses cover training in structural masonry bricklayer, drywall installer, building painter, air conditioning and refrigeration mechanic, and carbon steel welder MAG 6G. The initiative is part of the strategy of the City to expand access to technical training, strengthening job creation and local economic development.

Free Courses Focused on Technical Training

The 1,000 vacancies in free civil construction courses represent one of the largest qualification actions promoted by the City in partnership with Senai RJ.

The goal is to serve both those who already work in the sector and those who wish to enter new areas. The courses will be taught from Monday to Friday, in units spread across various neighborhoods in Rio, which expands the initiative’s reach.

According to the Deputy Secretary of Labor and Qualification, Charbel Zaib, the civil construction sector is one of the sectors with the highest employment potential in the state.

He emphasizes that “safety, efficiency, and the quality of the works depend directly on the training of professionals,” reinforcing that investing in technical training is essential for the sustainable growth of the sector.

Impact on the Job Market and Rio’s Economy

According to data from the Rio Work Observatory, the civil construction sector recorded a positive balance of more than 5,000 new jobs just between January and July of this year, totaling over 133,000 active workers in the city.

The municipal Secretary of Labor and Income, Manoel Vieira, highlighted that the agreement with Senai RJ strengthens the link between qualification and employability, creating a virtuous cycle for the local economy.

This growing demand for qualified professionals makes the free courses a strategic opportunity for those seeking stability and growth.

In addition, the agreement with Senai guarantees modern infrastructure, experienced instructors, and nationally recognized certification, increasing the competitiveness of students in the job market.

Registration and Requirements to Participate

The registration for the free civil construction courses begins this month and can be done at the participating Senai units. Candidates must be at least 16 years old and have completed the 5th year of elementary school.

The vacancies are limited and the selection process will follow criteria defined by the SMTE and Senai RJ.

The courses have been planned to accommodate different time slots morning, afternoon, and night allowing both active workers and people seeking their first job to participate. The City reinforces that all courses are free, with materials and infrastructure provided to students.

Partnership Between City and Senai RJ Strengthens Qualification

The technical cooperation agreement between the SMTE and Senai RJ was signed at the headquarters of the secretariat, in Cidade Nova.

During the event, Secretary Manoel Vieira highlighted that “the partnership is a concrete response to the demand for qualified professionals and the need to raise the standard of labor in Rio.”

The City has adopted public policies focused on technical training and reinsertion of workers into the job market, in tune with the sectors that generate the most vacancies in the state.

With the expansion of the civil construction sector, the expectation is that the classes formed will drive new ventures and reduce the deficit of qualified labor.

Among the 1,000 vacancies in free civil construction courses, which area do you consider most important for the future of the sector in Rio bricklayer, welder, or systems installer?
