Brazilian mining revenue reached R$ 39 billion in the second quarter of the year, according to a report released on July 21 by the Brazilian Mining Institute (Ibram). The revenue of mining companies increased by 9% compared to the first three months of 2020, which recorded R$ 36 billion. The figures do not include the exploration of oil and gas.

The mining sector generated R$ 14.7 billion in Minas Gerais from April to June, representing 37.66% of the total in the country. However, the state ranks second on the list, behind Pará. Mining revenue in the state reached R$ 16.7 billion during the period – 42.7% of the total. The other representative states in the sector – Bahia, Goiás, São Paulo, and Mato Grosso – together recorded R$ 4.4 billion, which represents 11.8% of the national amount.
