Rising Oil Production Consolidates Brazil Among the World’s Leading Exporters
With the increasing expansion of oil production, Brazil establishes itself this Monday, (08/14), as an influential player in the global export and fuel market. The notable rise of the country as one of the main oil producers and exporters is driven by the solid performance of the sector, especially in the pre-salt market, along with the growth in oil prices over the past decades.
Brazil Reaffirms Itself as One of the Global Leaders in Oil Export
The growing oil production in Brazil is playing a key role in consolidating the country as one of the major players in the international export market.
This growth not only strengthens the Brazilian economy but also elevates the nation to a prominent position among the major trading nations globally.

Giant reservoirs with a capacity of 18 million cubic meters have turned Fujairah into one of the largest energy vaults on the planet. This facility, located outside the Strait of Hormuz, stores oil on a colossal scale and has become a silent piece that supports the global flow of fuels.
With the continuous expansion of oil production, the outlook for Brazil on the international scene is becoming increasingly optimistic.
Experts predict that this upward trajectory will continue to contribute significantly to robust results in the country’s foreign trade.
This positive scenario projects a substantial increase in foreign exchange inflows, boosting the economy and providing valuable resources to producing regions through royalties.
In 2022, oil exports reached a historic milestone, recording an amount of US$ 42.5 billion in revenues in the Brazilian market.
This value represented a significant share, accounting for 12.7% of the country’s total trade transactions with the outside world.
Oil has solidified itself as the second most important export item of the country, second only to soybeans, which recorded US$ 46.5 billion in sales.
José Augusto de Castro, executive president of the Brazilian Foreign Trade Association (AEB), highlights the trend of sustained growth in oil production.
He emphasizes that as the amount of oil produced increases and prices remain stable, the participation of this vital resource in the export agenda is likely to expand even further.
The volume of oil exports grew by 1.7% in 2022 compared to the previous year, totaling 68.7 million tons.
This performance solidifies the oil sector as one of the main pillars for maintaining balance in Brazil’s trade balance, according to Adriano Pires, director of the Brazilian Center for Infrastructure (CBIE).
Brazilian Market Changes in Light of Global Oil Sector Advances
Brazil, a country historically involved in political issues related to oil, demonstrates a remarkable shift in its global role in the sector.
A nation that previously carried the motto “The Oil is Ours,” associated with the Vargas era, now stands out as the ninth-largest oil producer in the world in 2022, ranking among the top ten exporters.
The exponential growth of oil production is partly attributed to the impressive performance of the pre-salt, a resource reserve that has become a catalyst for exploration advancement.
The rise in oil prices over the decades has also contributed to the economic viability of exploration.
Pre-salt exploration, which accounts for approximately 75% of Brazil’s total oil production, stands out for its operational efficiency and its ability to remain profitable even during times of lower prices.
Thus, what is expected for the domestic oil market in the coming years is strong growth in both production and export of the product.
