According to the state-owned company’s announcement, due to Covid-19, the new apprentices have been receiving remote training since September 21. They will later be assigned to perform administrative activities in various areas of the Duque de Caxias Refinery (Reduc).
The selected individuals will work 20 hours a week and will be entitled to a proportional regional minimum wage, 13th salary, vacation, transportation voucher, food ticket, health plan, dental plan, and life insurance.
The Petrobras Young Apprentice Program (PPJA) aims to prepare young people in situations of social and economic vulnerability for the job market. “Since we operate in a region that presents high unemployment and violence rates, a pedagogical orientation program like the Young Apprentice is extremely important for all of us. The coexistence of the new apprentices with the refinery employees boosts the individual development of these young people and opens the way for them to achieve a better future,” evaluates community relationship agent Porfírio Santos de Brito Neto from the Regional Integration Management of Social Responsibility RJ-MG-ES.
Job and Income Generation in Duque de Caxias
In addition to helping prepare young people from the region for insertion into the job market, Reduc carries out several other support actions for the communities in its area of coverage, promoting education, professional qualification, job opportunities, and income improvement for local residents.
Through the Petrobras Socio-Environmental Program, Petrobras also sponsors training projects for entrepreneurship and professional development for residents or people working around the Duque de Caxias Refinery (Reduc). In the last 24 months, management and career mentoring courses have been offered to help alleviate the pressure of unemployment for families. The proposal is to train 150 young people from the region and to guide the development of businesses for 300 enterprises.
