The Construction of 11 Wind Power Plants in Santa Catarina Will Generate More Than Two Thousand Jobs
The Environmental Institute of the State of Santa Catarina (IMA) granted on Friday the preliminary environmental license (LAP) for an incredible 256.5 MW wind power project, which aims to build 11 wind power plants in 04 regions of SC.

The Calmon Wind Complex, as it is called, will require about R$ 1 billion (USD 185.7 million / EUR 153.3 million) in investments for the construction of a total of 11 wind parks. The installation works are expected to take 34 months, according to IMA.
The wind power plant project will be located in the municipalities of Calmon, Caçador, Timbó Grande, and Porto União, and the wind energy project is the responsibility of the regional wind company Eólicas de Calmon Ltda. It will consist of 95 wind turbines with an individual capacity of 2.7 MW each, covering a total area of 9,600 hectares (23,722 acres), and more than 2,000 jobs will be generated.

The LAP, which is used to authorize the start of project planning, is the first of three environmental licenses – Preliminary, Installation, and Operation – required to start the project’s operations, the agency explained.
Wind Power Plant Project in SC Should Generate 2,000 Direct and Indirect Jobs
The project, which includes the creation of a total of 11 wind power plants in the regions described above in SC, could ultimately generate more than two thousand jobs directly and indirectly.
The first phase of the project will start with 146 job openings for the installation of the equipment, and the construction itself is expected to generate 2,000 job openings during the operational phase of the wind power plant.
The LAP is the first of three environmental licenses (Preliminary, Installation, and Operation) required to start the operation of the enterprise.
