The JBS Biodiesel factory in Mafra, SC will cover an area of 76,000 square meters and, when completed, is expected to create 100 direct jobs and around 300 indirect jobs.

The expectation is that the factory will begin operations in June 2021. Approximately 180 million reais will be invested in the construction of the new enterprise, through Seara Alimentos.
According to Alexandre Pereira, director of JBS Biodiesel, the new project will more than double the company’s current biodiesel capacity.
The new factory could produce 1 million liters daily. “The plant will start operations to help meet the demand for the introduction of B13 and is ready to accommodate the growth of the regulatory framework that should reach 15% in 2023,” adds the executive, referring to the increase in the blend of biodiesel with diesel, from the current 12% to 13%, scheduled to take effect in March 2021.
Amid the Pandemic and Global Crisis, JBS Opens 3,000 Job Vacancies in Brazil
JBS stated it will maintain the investments of 8 billion reais that were announced for the next five years and generated 3,000 job vacancies amid the global crisis caused by the new coronavirus.
“We not only committed to not laying off employees, but we have also already hired an additional 3,000 people (in recent months),” said the global president of the company, Gilberto Tomazoni, during a series of live interviews Economy in Quarantine, by Estadão.
The Labor Prosecutor’s Office (MPT) requested on Wednesday (03/06) the closure of the Caxias do Sul unit due to the high rate of employee contamination by covid-19.
According to Tomazoni, JBS has sought health specialists since the beginning of the pandemic to care for the health of its employees.
