PUC-RIO ENGENHARIAS GRADUATION

According to CAPES 2013-2016 evaluation, postgraduate programs are among the most respected in Brazil in the area of exact sciences. Enrollment is free and classes start in August.

PUC-Rio Scientific Technical Center (CTC/PUC-Rio) is offering Eight postgraduate programs, with applications open this June for masters and doctorates Stricto Sensu and classes starting in the second half of 2020. Four of them are top score (seven) at CAPES, two are score six and two others are score five, confirming the excellence of the teaching offered in the postgraduate courses at CTC/PUC-Rio.

  • Civil Engineering
  • Chemical Engineering, Materials and Environmental Processes
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Physics
  • Computer Technology
  • Mathematics
  • Chemistry

Graduate studies at PUC-Rio follow the model of Brazilian federal universities, where students can obtain CAPES, CNPq, FAPERJ and project grants for each department, depending on their classification in the selection processes. There are also no entry fees. If the isolation as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic extends during part of the second half of 2020, PUC-Rio will maintain the recess of its face-to-face activities. Academic activities will take place through online classes, in order to ensure everyone's health, as well as the fulfillment of the activities foreseen in each postgraduate program at CTC/PUC-Rio.

It is noteworthy that, in the second edition of the Times Higher Education University Impact Rankings 2020released on April 22nd, PUC-Rio maintained its leadership in Latin America in the 'Development of Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure' indicator. It is part of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which must guide the agenda of all countries in the world until 2030. In this sense, CTC/PUC-Rio is directly responsible for this result, as this indicator focuses on the role of universities in research in partnership with industry, the research budget arising from this partnership and their performance as an incubator for companies in the development of patents.

Recognized as one of the most important centers of teaching and scientific and technological research in Brazil, the CTC/PUC-Rio has a teaching staff made up of around 180 professors. All have a doctorate (most abroad), offering students a solid education, in line with both the needs of the professional market and the full development of researchers in Brazil.

See the application details for each of the postgraduate programs at CTC/PUC-Rio:

Civil Engineering - Applications until 30/06/2020 - Grade 6 at CAPES

The program has two areas of concentration: Structures and Geotechnics. For the second half of 2020, Geotechnics will be offered only in the Doctorate. It has five lines of research: Computational Geomechanics, Petroleum Geomechanics, Environmental Geotechnics, Experimental Geotechnics and Rock Mechanics and Engineering Geology. Structures, which has nine lines divided into: Applied Computer Graphics, Damage and Fracture of Materials, Steel and Composite Structures, Concrete Structures, Instability and Dynamics of Structures, Advanced Cementitious Materials, Non-Conventional Materials and Sustainability, Project Methodologies in Engineering and Variational and Computational Methods, will offer applications for Masters and Doctorates. Online registration is free and must be done through the link  http://www.ccpa.puc-rio.br/inscricao_pos/.

Chemical Engineering, Materials and Environmental Processes - Applications until 20/06/2020 - Concept 5 at CAPES

Candidates interested in master's and doctoral programs can choose between three areas of concentration: Chemical Engineering (EQ), Materials and Nanotechnology (MN) and Environmental Processes (PA), each one of them contemplating three Research Lines: EQ - Modeling, Optimization, Process Control and Automation; Chemical Processes and Catalysis; Mineral-Metallurgical Processes; MN – Synthesis, Processing and Characterization of Materials; Performance and Integrity of Materials; Microstructural Engineering; PA – Green Chemistry; Treatment of Water and Industrial Effluents; Waste treatment.
