According to CAPES assessment 2013-2016, graduate programs are among the most esteemed in Brazil in the field of exact sciences. Applications are free and classes start in August
The Technical Scientific Center of PUC-Rio (CTC/PUC-Rio) is offering eight graduate programs, with applications open this June for master’s and doctoral Stricto Sensu, and classes starting in the second semester of 2020. Four of them received the highest score (seven) from CAPES, two received a score of six, and two more received a score of five, confirming the excellence of the education offered in CTC/PUC-Rio’s graduate programs.
- Civil Engineering
- Chemical Engineering, Materials, and Environmental Processes
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Physics
- Computer Science
- Mathematics
- Chemistry
The graduate programs at PUC-Rio follow the model of Brazilian federal universities, where students can obtain CAPES, CNPq, FAPERJ scholarships, and from projects of each department, depending on their classification in the selection processes. There are also no application fees. If the isolation due to the COVID-19 pandemic extends into part of the second semester of 2020, PUC-Rio will maintain a hiatus from in-person activities. Academic activities will be conducted online to ensure the health of all, as well as to fulfill the planned activities in each graduate program from CTC/PUC-Rio.
It is worth mentioning that, in the second edition of the Times Higher Education University Impact Rankings 2020, released on April 22, PUC-Rio maintained its leadership in Latin America for the indicator ‘Development of Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure’. This is part of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) established by the United Nations that are to guide the agenda of all countries worldwide until 2030. In this regard, CTC/PUC-Rio is directly responsible for this result, as this indicator focuses on the role of universities in research in partnership with the industry, the research budget arising from this partnership, and their performance as an incubator for companies in patent development.
