Free Specialization from IFTO Brings Campuses Together in Tocantins and Offers Completely Distance Learning.

The Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Tocantins (IFTO), through the Formoso do Araguaia Campus, has opened a simplified selection process for a free specialization in Education and Digital Technologies, offered in distance learning mode, with support from the Open University of Brazil (UAB) System.

In total, there are 150 vacancies distributed across in-person campuses in the interior of Tocantins, with a workload of 405 hours, nine required subjects, a Final Course Project (TCC), and registrations open until November 20, 2025.

Free Course in Education and Digital Technologies

The postgraduate program is of the lato sensu (specialization) type and focuses on the use of digital technologies applied to educational processes, with an emphasis on Vocational and Technological Education (EPT).

Structure, Subjects, and Workload

The specialization has an estimated duration of 18 months, totaling 405 hours of academic activities.

The curriculum consists of nine required subjects, covering topics related to education, digital technologies, and pedagogical practices mediated by technological resources, as well as the development of a Final Course Project (TCC).

Although it is an EaD course, the notice stipulates that there will be eight mandatory in-person meetings throughout the specialization.

These meetings will occur at the in-person support campuses and will focus on activities such as guidance, evaluations, specific formative moments, and monitoring the academic trajectory of the students.

Campuses with Available Slots in Tocantins

The 150 available slots are equally distributed among five campuses of the Open University of Brazil (UAB) in Tocantins, with 30 slots for each unit.

The campuses covered by the notice are located in the municipalities of Ananás, Dianópolis, Guaraí, Palmeirópolis, and Taguatinga, all in the state of Tocantins.

At the time of registration, the candidate must choose a single in-person support campus, which will become their reference for in-person meetings, assistance, and other activities outlined in the schedule.

The choice of campus cannot be changed after enrollment is confirmed.

Requirements to Participate in the Postgraduate Program

The target audience for the course is professionals with a bachelor’s degree in any field of knowledge, provided the course is recognized by the Ministry of Education (MEC).

The notice gives preference to candidates who work or are interested in working in Vocational and Technological Education (EPT) courses, especially in state educational networks, but participation is not restricted to teachers.

Individuals who have already completed their degree but have not yet received the physical diploma may also apply.

In such cases, the notice allows for the submission of a declaration or certificate of completion, accompanied by the academic transcript.

This substitute document must have been issued no more than one year prior to the date of registration.

The selection includes both teachers and other education professionals and graduates interested in qualifying in the area of digital technologies applied to teaching.

How the Simplified Selection Works

The selection process is described as simplified, with no tests, essays, or analysis of academic curricula.

Classification will be made exclusively by order of registration, provided all required documentation is submitted correctly and within the deadline.

Each campus offers 30 slots.

As valid registrations are confirmed, the slots will be filled.

Those who register after the deadline may be placed on a waiting list.

In the event of a tie, when two candidates have registered at the same moment, the tiebreaker criterion will be the older age.

Practical Training Focused on Digital Technologies

The course has been structured to address current demands in education, such as the use of active methodologies, virtual learning environments, multimedia resources, and online collaborative tools.

Graduates should be capable of planning, implementing, and evaluating pedagogical practices that make critical use of digital technologies.

Throughout the subjects, students will discuss theoretical frameworks, analyze hybrid and EaD teaching experiences, and develop projects applicable to professional practice.

The TCC consolidates the academic journey with the production of studies or intervention proposals.

Registrations for IFTO’s Distance Learning Postgraduate Program

Registrations are free and conducted exclusively online.

The candidate must access the form indicated in the notice of the Formoso do Araguaia Campus, fill in the requested data, select one of the five campuses, and attach, in a single PDF file, all required documents.

The registration period remains open until November 20, 2025, with submissions allowed until 11:59 PM.

As the selection considers the order of arrival of complete registrations, interested individuals should verify the documentation in advance to avoid errors.
