Free Health Management Course Fiocruz
Targeted at health workers who are currently working or wish to work in the management of the Unified Health System (SUS), the course arises in a context of increasing need for qualification and strengthening of public administration in the sector.
The free specialization in health management is the result of a partnership between Fiocruz and the Open University of Brazil (UAB/MEC), recognized for expanding access to higher education in the country and for training managers prepared to face complex challenges in SUS.
With a workload of 420 hours, the free specialization from Fiocruz EAD consists of 372 hours of online activities, conducted in a virtual learning environment (AVA/Moodle) with tutor support, and 48 hours of in-person meetings.
These meetings are mandatory and will take place in October 2025, April 2026, and October 2026, distributed among six regional hubs located in Macapá (AP), Juazeiro do Norte (CE), Campina Grande (PB), Natal (RN), São Cristóvão (SE), and Bragança Paulista (SP).
Inclusive Slots and Differentials of the EAD Specialization
In addition to the free modality, another differentiator of the course is its inclusion policy: 30% of the slots are reserved for affirmative actions, covering self-declared black candidates (black and brown), people with disabilities, and indigenous individuals.
The remaining 70% are open to general competition.
This initiative reinforces Fiocruz’s institutional commitment to diversity, equity, and the training of managers that reflect the country’s plurality.
The content has been designed to develop essential skills for health management, such as leadership, strategic planning, execution of public policies, and team supervision.
The student will be prepared to promote change, monitor processes, and present consistent results, becoming a reference manager in the public sector.
Throughout the 12-month duration, the course combines theory and practice, guiding professionals towards ethical and innovative action, fundamental for transforming the landscape of public health in Brazil.
Who Can Participate and Selection Criteria
To participate in the selection, candidates must present a higher education diploma, institutional ties to a health service, a minimum availability of eight hours per week for studies, basic knowledge in computer science, and access to a computer with internet, webcam, and headset.
Attendance at the three in-person meetings is also mandatory, and it is important to highlight that all expenses for transportation, food, and accommodation are the responsibility of the student.
